Birthday Wishes

Oh my word! Is it Tuesday already?! I made this card over the weekend and was waiting for the right moment ... when the planets are perfectly aligned ... to blog it. I've also been meaning to play in the Time Out challenge that my friend Sandie co-owns with another immensely talented crafter, Nonni.

This fortnight's challenge is based on a photo inspiration. Lots of ideas - wood panel, red greeting, pillows, cream, burnt orange etc.

In my head I was making a CAS card, but clearly my hands and my brains do not speak the same language. The end result is this:

I embossed the card base with Darice checker board embossing folder. The woodgrain panel is an embossing folder by Craft Concepts and I inked it withVersaMagic Jumbo Java. Three small pale green gems complete the centre piece, which is mounted on foam tape.

Products used for this project:

Challenges:
Time Out #22: Photo Inspiration
Loves Rubber Stamp #134: Stamp In Any Colour But Black
Crafting From The Heart #42: AG

That's all from me today. Thanks for stopping by and I'll be seeing you in blogland. Have a lovely day, friends!

Celebrate Your Day

Hello my friends. A quickie-post from me today. I made a birthday card in the wee hours of last night for my godmother. It's her birthday today and we're taking her out for a special dinner at a swanky place. I started out with CAS in mind but then...oh well, old bad habits die hard and I got a little carried away.

Here's the card I'll be giving my dear Tia Tita:

For the card base I use pearlescent cream CS. I modified the sketch a little by using score line and stitching to emulate the layers in the sketch. I was going for a CAS look- The papers are from Basic Grey's "Indian Summer" 6x6 pad.
I popped the central panel on some foam tape, applied 4 large pearls at the corners and tied a bow with some salmon sheer ribbon.
The greeting is from Clearly Besotted's It's Your Birthday set, stamped with Memento Elderberry. The butterfly are from the Butterfly Wishes Additions set, heat embossed in white and cut with the coordinating dies. In the middle of each butterfly I adhered a light grey pearl.

Here's another greeting from the It's Your Birthday set, also stamped with Memento Elderberry.

Come play with me here?

Clearly Besotted Challenge #5 "Colour Inspiration / Autumn Theme"
Seize The Birthday "Colours Of Fall"

That's all from me today. Must dash - nowhere exciting, unfortunately. Got to wrestle with some laundry and then put myself through some medieval torture... on the ironing board. Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely weekend. I'll see you tomorrow!

Tuesday Throwdown #169: Pumpkin Patch

Well hello there! We meet again, my friends. For today's post, I'm going back to making something with a seasonal flavour. The theme over at Tuesday Throwdown is "Pumpkin Patch". That's just great because to play along you don't have to make a Halloween, Thanksgiving or Autumn card, if you don't want to. As long as your project  has a pumpkin or two, you're good to go.

I made a pumpkinny birthday card with rich autumnal tones using some lovely embellishments so generously provided by our sponsors for this week - Freckled Fawn.  Check out their online store for your embellies and doodats. You'll be spoilt for choice!

Anyways, on to my card:

The patterned papers are from Basic Grey's "Pyrus". I attached a  gorgeous orange rhinestone by Freckled Fawn at the bottom lefthand corner.

Now this adorable Pixie Cottage image by their illustrator ArTish is called 3 Fall Mice. Aren't they cute?! I coloured them with Graph'It Markers.

On the inside is my computer generated message and a paper clip by Freckled Fawn.

Join me in a little pumpkin playtime:
Without Words October Challenge "Pumpkins!"
The Paper Girls Challenge #41 "Sew It On"
Freshly Brewed October Challenge "Pumpkins"

Bearly Mine Challenges #108 "AG"
Make It Monday #162 "AG"
Pile It On #41 "Humour"
Glitter n Sparkle #54 "Add Some Orange"
Pumpkin Spice Challenge #41 "Pumpkins!"

Now it's your turn to show us your pumpkin project. Remember, the theme is all about pumpkins. So make sure there's a pumpkin somewhere on your creation. And then link it up to the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge Blog. Don't forget to visit the rest of DT for ideas and inspiration.

Before you leave I just want to say that this is my 500th - yes - FIVE HUNDREDTH post! I am especially tickled because this is probably my longest lasting hobby. LOL! Over the years I've dabbled in all kinds of everything but I don't think I've produced 50, let alone 500 of anything. Personally, I am in shock! How did this happen?!

Thank YOU, my friends, for all your lovely comments and words of encouragements... even when I am slow to respond! (eeek! my bad!). I have met so many lovely people and made beautiful friendships and have so much to be grateful for.

I truly appreciate your visit today and let's see where this road takes us!  (To the nearest pub to celebrate... no doubt! LOL)

Eclectic Ellapu #50: Celebrate Autumn

Time for another new challenge at Eclectic Ellapu, my friends. This week our hostess is the lovely Yvonne and she has invited us to "Celebrate Autumn". Now that is the perfect excuse to go to town with the seasonal colours and imagery.

I made a thanksgiving card to celebrate all the good things in life. Sure, things don't usually turn out the way we want them to, but I believe everything happens for a reason. And we truly have much to be thankful for... a lot more than  we care to admit!

I made a 5" square card with a punched border. The papers are by Basic Grey's "Pyrus" 6x6 pad - now discontinued. I distressed the edges and applied TM's Vintage Photo. The greeting by WMS,  heat embossed in black.
I used plenty of foam tape for dimension. For embellies - some sheer orange ribbon and green bling.
The focal image is by WMS coloured with Graph'It markers. For cutting and layering I used Spellbinders Circles and Scalloped Circle dies.
On the inside I stamped a few falling leaves... it is autumn, after all!

Time for a few autumnal challenges:

4 Crafty Chicks #162 "Fall / Autumn"
Addicted To Stamps #65 "Photo Inspiration"
Crafty Ribbons Challenge #64 "Anything Goes with Ribbon"
Cute Card Thursday #289 "Signs of Distress"
Sister Act Card #27 "Anything Goes"
All Sorts Challenge #227 "Autumn Colours"
Make It Monday #161 "Anything Goes"

And now it's your turn to create something to celebrate Autumn and link it up over at the Eclectic Ellapu Challenge Blog. For ideas and inspiration take a look at what the rest of the design team. You will not be disappointed!

Thanks for stopping by and I'm looking forward to seeing your work.

Hello my friends. I made this birthday card just before we left for our summer hols and scheduled for it to go live on Wednesday. I'll probably link it up to some challenges when I have the time to pop in for a quick visit.

The papers are from basic Grey's Luscious 6x6 pad. For texture, I dotted the background with Gold Liquid Pearls. For cutting and layering used Spellbinders Circles and Scalloped Circles dies.

The greeting is from WMS Say It Loud set, stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa To finish - some sheer ribbon and a nice big bow.

This greeting is also from the same WMS set.

Flower Girl

Hello there, fellow crafters! What a gloriously warm Sunday it is. It's not scorching hot over here, just the right amount of heat, a cool breeze and an extra cold G&T! Blissful Sunday!

Just popping by to post a card I made using an this adorable image from PolkaDoodles's BonBon Belles Double CD.  'Tis a gate-fold card to send to a friend's 12-year old daughter who's recovering from having her tonsils removed.

The papers are from Basic Grey's Wisteria Collection. Purple and blue are her favourite colours. Simple embellishments: buttons, sheer ribbon and some bling. For cutting and matting the image I used Spellbinders Ovals and Labels 18 dies.

This image is from PolkaDoodles BonBon Belles Double CD. I used PROMARKERS for her dress and shoes ( Lilac, Orchid and Amethyst),  belt (Lipstick Red and Red),  flowers (Poppy, Crimson and Peach)  and leaves (Pear and Lime). Graph'It pens for her hair ( Chocolate, Cognac and Cajou) and skin ( Cotton, Nude, Skin, Satin).

The sentiment is from WMS Say It Loud set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black.

Birthday Mouse

So here we are my friends, another Monday. We have the day off work today but instead of resting we tackled all those pesky chores that we keep ignoring. Let's just say we no longer need a machete to make our way to the bottom of the garden.

Here's my Mojo offering for this week. It's a simple birthday card for my stash. I use the term loosely since this card is my stash.

The papers are from Basic Grey's "Hello Luscious" 6x6 pad.

This adorable image is by Sweet n Sassy called Flowers From Cocoa. Isn't he adorable? I coloured the image with SN and Promarkers, cut it out with Spellbinders Label 10 and inked the edges with TH Peeled Paint. The greeting is from WMS Say it Loud set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black.

To jazz things up I have a punched lace border treatment, some sheer ribbon and pearls.

Nothing much going on in the inside.

I'm playing along with MojoMonday #297 - sketchThe Ribbon Reel Challenge #55 "Treasure Pearls"No Matter Which Challenge #10 "Bingo" - diecut, pearls, border punchChallenges 4 Everybody #22 "Anything Goes"Opus Gluei #158 "Birthday" and Stamping Sensations June Challenge "Summer Blooms".

Thanks for stopping by. I'm going to take on another chore...one that I have been postponing for a very long long time...clearing my craft room....sigh. Have a productive Monday, y'all!

Born to be Wild!

I know the days are supposed to get longer and all that...it ain't true. Not for me, anyway. I seem to be playing catch up all the time. My day usually ends with me crashing into bed...and it seems 30 seconds later the alarm is off again. I don't remember it being this way last year. Do you? There's a pattern of forgetfulness and I'm constantly wondering if I've forgotten something.  Perhaps my friend Sandie is right... my memory is failing me because I am old-er.

And why am I here? Aaah yes! To tell you about this card I made for our dear friend's birthday, which isn't until June 16th. Still early, but the way things are going these days, I might forget all about it. He's into motorbikes but unfortunately his wife is not so enthusiastic.  So, here's one way to live that fantasy:

The papers are form Basic Grey's "Life of the Party" 6x6 pad.

The bike stamp is by Hot Off The Press, stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle and coloured with Promarkers. The birthday greeting is from WMS "Half Pint Heroes" set.

For embellies I have 3 pewter studs by Woodware. I also inked all edged with TH's Vintage Photo.

Pressies for the birthday boy!

The sketch is form Mojo Monday #296 and I gave it a 90º turn. Other challenges: Challenges 4 Everybody #21 "Anything Goes"Joanna Sheen Challenge"Spots and Stripes"Spark Your Creativity Now #10 "Anything Goes"Brown Sugar Challenge #44 "Masculine Birthday" and ABC Challenges #31 "Masculine Cards".

That's all from me today. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a productive Monday.

Thank You, Sister Betty

Welcome to another Tuesday Throwdown challenge. We had some fabby entries last week. Thanks to all those who participated and because we had so much fun last week...we're doing it again this week! Yay! The theme for Challenge #145 is "Thank You, Teacher". You probably did not do enough of this while you were at school, I know I didn't... Not easy when they were on your back over home works and projects.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Stamps and I'm using Stella as a teacher, who bears an uncanny resemblance to my English teacher in high school - Sister Betty. I've never seen Sister Betty in civvies but the hair, the glasses, the smirk and that dreaded stick... unforgettable. Yes ma'am, Sister Betty was a crabby, cranky, caustic nun but in hindsight, I'm glad that she was a demanding so-and-so. No lasting traumas or scars here ... just a sense of gratitude. Of course, it look me 30-odd years to admit that!

The patterned papers are from Basic Grey "Life of the Party" 6x6 pad.

I coloured Stella with Promarkers and SN markers.  To cut and layer the sentiment I used Spellbinders Grommet Tags die.

And some blue and red twine to hold the tag in place.

I'm taking my card to the following challenges: Stamps + Fun = Creativity #149 "Bingo: Button-Free-Pennant"Tammy's Scrapin' Corner #60 "Lots of Layers"Sparkle n Sprinkle Creative Challenges "Use a Digi"Cutie Pie Challenge #43 "Lots of Layers"Crafty Bloggers Network #10 "Anything Goes"Bearly Mine Challenges #84 "Anything Goes" and Artistic Inspiration #39 "Lots of Layers".

Now it's your turn. Make a thank you card for a teacher; your own form the past, or your child's, even a friend who is a teacher. It's thankless job - they don't get enough credit and very often, very little support. It's never too late to say "Thank you, teacher!" Link up your project at the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge blog and waited to be graded by the DT!

Bonjour!

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to  Eclectic Ellapu Challenge #27. This week I'm playing with the Purple Team and the theme is everyone's favourite "Anything Goes". Seriously, this time it's for real. You can make anything. I'm told you could even bake a cake and link it up, if you so wished.

Instead of baking a cake, I got Margaret of Bugaboo Stamps to make some toast and share her thoughts with you. And here's what she has to say:

The papers are from Basic Grey "Sweet Threads" 6x6 pad.

And here is the adorable Margaret. I coloured her with SN markers. The greeting is from WMS Fancy Phrases set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black.

Margaret doesn't look like a bells-n-whistles kinda gal, so I said NO to all embellies and decided on some plain coral raffia instead.

And on the inside ... Margaret's true thoughts!

I'm taking Margaret to these linky parties (I hope she behaves!): Catch The Bug "Add a Little Color"Jelly Park Challenges "Humour"Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog "Anything But Birthday"Sister Act Cards #4 "Anything Goes"Little Miss Muffet #59 "Food Glorious Food"CCEE Stampers #1317 "In the Kitchen" and Penny's Paper Crafty #124 "Anything Goes".

That's all from me today. Don't forget to link up you project over the Eclectic Ellapu Challenge Blog. I'm looking forward to seeing your creations. Thank you for stopping by and I wish you a blessed Sunday.

Happy Birthday!

Good evening, blog-buddies. Popping in very quickly to show you a card I made earlier today for a dear friend's birthday. I need to get this in the post bright and early tomorrow if she's to get it on time! So here it is:

The papers are from Basic Grey's "Sweet Threads" 6x6 pad. I layered the image  on some grey CS that I cut using Spellbinders Postage Stamp die.

I need to mail the card so it's got to be flat. No bulky embellies on this one.... except for that bow in yonder corner.

The digi is from PolkaDoodles Cherry Blossom Lane CD. This CD is chock full of gorgeous spring themed  digis, papers and embellies.

On the inside, I picked sentiments from WMS Say It Loud set and stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black.

I'm taking my card to the following challenges: Pink By Design "Birthday Challenge";  Shopping Our Stash #89 "They Say It's Your Birthday"Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings #66 "Spring Colours & Ribbon"Spark Your Creativity Now! #6 "Anything Goes"One Stitch At A Time #151 "Make It Girly"Challenges 4 Everybody #14 "Anything Goes"CD Sunday Challenge "Spring Is In Air" and Make It Monday #128 "Anything Goes".

So there you have it - a quick and easy card in a short and sweet blog post! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. I'm off to bed 'cause it just past midnight here... and at my age every minute of beauty sleep crucial. Thanks for stopping by and I'll see y'all tomorrow! Nighty-night!

Easter Mojo

Hellooo, my crafty friends! It's Monday and the start of the last week of January. It has been a jam-packed month of mostly downs for me - all neatly chronicled on my crafting blog. Yep, it's the most appropriate forum to announce personal and mechanical tragedies.  I have been informed that bad luck comes in threes but I, being a lucky so-and-so, bagged the bonus calamity as well. We still have a few more days. I wonder what exciting treats the Universe has in store for me.

In the meantime, I'm going to play my much loved Mojo Monday and, fingers crossed, I won't break anything. This week's Sketch #278 is all about choice: round or square. I'm in a square mood. I'm also living dangerously by playing with The Squirrel and The Fox #36 "Something New": my new CB stamp; Joanna Sheen "3-2-1"; Sweet Stamping "Ribbon"; A Gem of a Challenge #64 "Holidays": Easter; Sugar Creek #46 "Lots of Layers"; Word Play Saturday "Anything" and Come and Get It "TicTacToe": Glitter-Free-Riccon. My card looks like this:

My card measures 5"x5" and I'm using papers from Basic Grey's Sweet Threads 6x6 pad.  The sentiment reads : "Easter spells out beauty, the rare beauty of new life". ... love it!

Here's the stamped image from my latest acquisition: Chocolate Baroque "Easter Traditions" stamp set. I coloured it with SN markers and traced along the tendrils with a Sakura Glitter pen which, sadly, is not showing up in the pic. IRL the effect is actually quite pretty.

Then I layered the image on Nestabilities Fleur de Lis Square. To finish, some ribbon and 2 pink blings on either corner  of the sentiment.

On the inside I  stamped a greeting from WMS Spring Baskets set.

So that's it from me today. I'm late posting because I had to take Rosie to the vet this evening. We're starting chemo on Wednesday and need a check-up and blood-work to make sure she's fit to start the treatment. The mass removed form her ear just before Christmas last year turned out to be malignant - just our luck! But we're soldiering on....

Before I sign off, here's a warm welcome to my newest followers:

Anne (Wicked Witch) of Wicked Designs
Susan Dube of Susan's Crafting Beach Hut
Leeanne M of Paper Doll's Creations
Sally Dube of Sally's Window of Scraps
Carol Gill of Crafty-Stamper

Thanks for stopping by and we'll catch up again real soon. TTFN!
