52 {C}CT September Stash Challenge

We've reached the end of September, folks! How scary is that?! With  a little under three months for Christmas - let the panic begin!

Before we sink into manic mayhem, let's just take a quiet moment and look at this card I made for the Stash Challenge over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown. The brief this week is: Diamonds and Pearls ... for that elegant extravagance befitting Christmas.

I decided on a clean and simple design using traditional Christmas red & green combo with pearls, rhinestones and Stardust Stickles for that mandatory festive sparkle. The stamps are from Clearly Besotted's new Christmas Sparkle set.

I made a window card,  framed with Spellbinders Eyelet Circle. I dotted the card base with
Stardust Stickles and finished off with a big red bow.

All around the frame I adhered flat-back pearls.

On the inside I stamped the tree and decorated it with clear rhinestones and more
Stickles!

Parading my tree at these challenges:

Sister Act Card #76: AG Cards Only
Brown Sugar #113: AG
Word Art Wednesday #151: AG Inspirational
ABC Christmas: S for Something Festive
Completely Christmas #31: AG Christmas
Dream It Up: Christmas & Holidays
CHNC September Extra: AG Christmas

Now it's your turn to create a festive card based on this week's Stash challenge. In order to be considered for Top Honour and Honourable Mentions, your new card must follow the challenge sketch and you must link it to the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown Challenge Blog by 6pm UK / 1pm EST on Friday, 3rd October. And here's the most important rule: Have Fun!

52 {C}CT September Theme Challenge

Well well, it's the third week of September, folks. We're getting ever closer to Christmas. Over at the 52 {C}CT grotto we're celebrating a Nordic Christmas. That's our theme for this week.

Admittedly, after I picked the theme there was a brief moment of excitement and then ... cold sweat and a resounding "What were you thinking?!" I found myself flipping through Ikea's 2013 Christmas catalogue for inspiration.

To spare you the humiliation (of being outed as a flatpack junkie and a hoarder), nip over to  the 52 {C}CT blog where I've included some tips on how to achieve the Nordic or Scandinavian look for your Christmas creations.

Here's my offering for this week's challenge using Chocolate Baroque stamps:

The patterned paper is from Papermania's "Home For Christmas" 6x6 pad.
I did some stitching. The greeting is from CB Warm Christmas Greetings

heat embossed in white.

Here's a close-up of the tree from CB Holly Bells.
I heat embossed it in white on kraft CS and fussy cut it.
I added some Stickles for some subtle glitter and finished
it off with some red & white twine and one red bling in

the starat the top of the tree.
A few challenges for this card:

CHNC Extra September: AG Christmas
Addicted To Stamps #113: Holidays
Word Art Wednesday #150: AG Uplifting
Christmas Card Challenge #42: Colour / AG Christmas

Now it's your turn to create a festive card based on this week's Theme challenge. In order to be considered for Top Honour and Honourable Mentions, your new card must follow the challenge sketch and you must link it to the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown Challenge Blog by 6pm UK / 1pm EST on Friday, 26th September. Rosie's Update:
Rosie is doing well. Her appetite is back, the fever is gone, she's starting to gain weight, her blood-work is encouraging and she's playing ball!. The not so good news is her tumour is hasn't reduced much. On the other hand, we should be thankful that it hasn't grown. We're seeing the oncologist again at the end of the month to discuss "what next". Until then, we're enjoying having Rosie back.
That's all from me today. Thank you for stopping by and have a fun weekend!

52 {C}CT September Sketch Challenge

Hello, friends! This month it's my turn to host the weekly challenges at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown ... and I am thrilled to bits.

First up is a sketch challenge. You can flip it, rotate it or square it. As long as the basic design is recognisable, you're good to go.

We also have a a fabulous sponsor for September: Deedee Designs. Head on over to Deedee's on-line store and take a peek (and be tempted!) by her beautiful art.

Enough chit-chat, let's take a look at my project for the challenge. I'm pairing contemporary colours with traditional image of a partridge in a pear tree and 2 turtle doves.

For the background I did some emboss-resist with white heat embossed snow flakes
Distress Inks in Peacock Feather and Mowed Lawn.  Embellies include some sheer
turquoise ribbon and blue bling. The greeting is from CB's Stained Glass Christmas,
stamped onto a piece of vellum with Brilliance Graphite Black ink.

This image is from CB's Turtle Dove stamp set, coloured with Graph'It and Promarkers.

These technicolor turtle doves are also from CB's Turtle Dove set, coloured with
Graph'It markers and dressed in Stardust Stickles.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from CB's Christmas Magic clear stamp set.

A few challenges for this card:

Completely Christmas #28: AG Christmas
Word Art Wednesday #148: AG Uplifting
Sweet Stampin: Great Outdoors - birds, tree and snow

52 {C}CT August Pick-A-Previous Challenge

Here we are at the last Saturday in August and we have a Pick-A-Previous Challenge. Our talented hostess, Gill Prescott, has decided that we should play with one of our previous sketches.

You can pick any sketch, starting with our very first one back January 2012 and the most one of August 2014. Head on over the Sketches Archive and pick one.

My choice for this week is Sketch #4 of April 2012 and I'm using traditional Christmas colours.

The bg paper is from BoBunny Mistletoe 6x6 pad. I stamped the
greeting from CB Warm Christmas Greetings directly onto the paper
and finished the card with sone gingham ribbon tied in a knot.

The wreath is from CB Hearth and Home. I coloured it with Graph'It markers
and embellished it with Liquid Pearls and bling.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from CB's Warm Christmas Greeting

Challenges for this card:

Completely Christmas #27: AG Christmas
Word Art Wednesday #147: AG Uplifting
Brown Sugar Challenge #109: AG
Moving Along With The Times: Stitching
Aud Sentiments #114: Any Sentiment Other Than Birthday

Rosie's Update:
Since my last update, Rosie has had couple of seriously bad days and then she bounced back. Her fever broke, the antibiotics kicked in and she's stable. She is anaemic and will need a couple of shots to stimulate production of red blood cells. We'll start this treatment on Monday. For now we are thankful for little mercies. She's eating on her own without much persuasion, she's eager to go walkies and has started to play with Richard Parker ... these are reasons enough to celebrate.

I am grateful for your prayers and healing thoughts ... Rosie says thank you too! And thank you for stopping by today. Have a fabulous weekend, my friends!

52 {C}CT August Stash Challenge

It's Saturday and time for another festive challenge. Our lovely hostess Gill Prescott want us to rummage through our crafty stash and create a project featuring "Glitter And Bling".  Oooh! I love a sparkly Christmas.

My project this week showcases A Cottage Christmas set by Waltzingmouse Stamps. It has tons of sparkly fibres, stickles and bling.

The patterned paper is actually a recycled piece of wrapping paper.
Apart form the glitter and bling, the only other extra is a little sheer ribbon.

Here's a close-up of the cottage. I coloured it with Graph'It markers.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from the A Cottage Christmas.

Challenges for this card:

Completely Christmas #25: AG Christmas
Christmas Card Challenges #38: Embossing / AG Christmas

Now it's your turn to create a festive card based on this week's Stash challenge. In order to be considered for Top Honour and Honourable Mentions, your new card must follow the challenge sketch and you must link it to the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown Challenge Blog by 6pm GMT / 1pm EST on Friday, 29th August. Rosie's Update:
This hasn't been a good week for Rosie. She's battling a fever which started on Monday. She's been admitted twice and after several tests it looks like tick fever! How on earth is this possible? She's never had any issues with ticks or fleas. All our pets have monthly spot-on treatments. It's mind boggling to me but not completely inconceivable, according to our vet. Following her chemo, Rosie is immunocompromised and all it takes is one pesky bite. Completely harmless for the rest of us but not so for poor Rosie. So now she spends the day at the vet on IV fluids and meds. Her appetite is very bad and has to be fed by hand until she is able to eat on her own again. Now that we've got her on the right antibiotics, fingers crossed she'll start feeling better.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I'm sorry I haven't been visiting and commenting much. It has been a truly hectic week for me and Rosie continues to hog my attention :-)  Have a lovely weekend, friends.

52 {C}CT August Theme Challenge

Yes, my friends, it's Saturday... again! It's becoming a habit now for the girls at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown to put their Christmas makes on display. This week, our spirited hostess Gill Prescott is serving up some "Mistletoe and Wine"... oh so quintessentially festive!

Here's my take on this week's theme. I couldn't get my hands on some mistletoe but there was no shortage of wine ... hic!

The two Chocolate Baroque stamps sets featured in this card are:
Pears and Baubles A4 sheet and Christmas Magic clear stamps.

No patterned papers. Instead, I  embossed some red CS with the
Swiss Dots EF and used that as my background.  The mistletoe,
pear and sentiment are from the Pears & Baubles set. I coloured
the mistletoe with Promarkers (Holly, Pine, Lush Green, Leaf Green).
The sentiment is embossed in white. Pretty much a CAS card.

I embossed the pear in gold and inked it with TH Peeled Paint.

On the inside, more mistletoe and a sentiment from the
Christmas Magic set, stamped in Memento Rhubarb Stalk.

We're swaggering off to these challenges:

Word Art Wednesday #145: AG Uplifting
Brown Sugar #107: AG
CHNC August Extra: AG Christmas
PINspirational Challenge #120: AG
C.RA.F.T #272: Christmas
Christmas Card Challenges #37: Colour / AG Christmas
Addicted To Stamps #107: Holiday
I Love Promarkers: AG + Promarkers

Now it's your turn to create a festive card based on this week's Theme challenge. In order to be considered for Top Honour and Honourable Mentions, your new card must follow the challenge sketch and you must link it to the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown Challenge Blog by 6pm GMT / 1pm EST on Friday, 22nd August. I just had to include a little video of this much loved Christmas song made popular by Sir Cliff Richard, which was released in 1988. This song also happens to be his only #1 hit in the '80s. In case you're wondering, the soloist at the end of the song is 13-year old James Rainbird. Who? He performed the Welsh lullaby "Suo Gân" in Steven Spielberg's "Empire Of The Sun". That's enough trivia for today :-)

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy the rest of the weekend, my friends!

52 {C}CT August Colour Challenge

Another Saturday has rolled on by, folks. And that can only mean one thing ... time to play along with the girls at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown. This week,  our lovely hostess Gill Prescott is giving you a choice of 4 Colours - Silver, Gold, White and Cream .... oh how gloriously decadent, right?

Here's how I've used these colours:
(Metallic colours are not easy to photograph. Oh the blinding glare! The pictures are a little underexposed... but you get the idea.)

I'm CAS with this one. Just some cream CS and silver metallic
paperfor layering. I've stamped the greeting from
WMS Say It Loud Winter Holiday with VersaColor Silver.

Here's a close-up. The ornaments are from WMS Vintage Ornaments
heat embossed in metallic gold EP and cut out with Spellbinders dies.
I also added some Opaque White Liquid Pearls and finished each ornament
with some stitching in cream and silver eyelets.

The sentiment s also from WMS Vintage Ornaments.

A few challenges for these baubles:

Cut It Up #51: Inspired By A Song - "Silver & Gold" - from the movie "Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer".

Now it's your turn to create a festive card based on this week's Colour challenge. In order to be considered for Top Honour and Honourable Mentions, your new card must follow the challenge sketch and you must link it to the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown Challenge Blog by 6pm GMT / 1pm EST on Friday, 15th August. That's all from me today. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a sunny weekend! We're off hiking later this evening to see the Supermoon ... exciting!

I'll leave you with the song that inspired this card. Here's a clip of "Silver and Gold" sung by Burl Ives in the movie "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" (1964) ...  an oldie and I love it!

A Little Flutter ... and a WINNER!

Hello, my friends! We're in for a little midweek frenzy! Remember the July month-long bloghop over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown? It's time to announce the identity of the lucky winner from my blogpost. But first let me say that I am overwhelmed by all the lovely comments and there is no way I could have picked just one person. So, all the names went into a hat and my handsome furry assistant, Ricard Parker, picked ... drum rolls, please ....

ANET VAN ZYL of Anet's Crafting Blog

WOOOOHOOO! Congratulations, Anet! You have won a £10 GIFT VOUCHER to spend on Christmas stamps at Chocolate Baroque - my favourite rubber stamp company. I'll be contacting you soon with details.

I'd like to sneak in a project featuring one of the two new August stamps by Chocolate Baroque - the  delightfully luscious Honeysuckle Butterfly. The flowers, the butterflies ... swoon.

The inspiration for this project came from an ancient oriental embroidered scarf I saw at a museum recently. With minimal distractions - just 4 tiny brads - this card is all about that gorgeous image.

Here's how I made it:

First I prepared the dark blue background by stamping the tiny leafy stalk which looks like bamboo shoots, using VersaMagic Mango Madness. Next I stamped the honeysuckle using Memento Tuxedo Black onto 300gsm bleed-proof paper  and very lightly sponged the edges with TH Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink and very lightly stamped more bamboo shoots using TH Bundled Sage.

Next, the fun part - colouring the image. I use Graph'It and Promarkers:
Flowers: GI - 02180, 02160, 02150, 02110
Greens: PM - Pine, Forrest Green, Leaf Green, Apple Green
Butterflies: PM - Royal Blue, True Blue, Azure, Sky Blue and GI - 03190, 03160

On the inside, I stamped a big bold greeting from CB's Birthday Words A5 stamp sheet ... and that bamboo leafy twiggy thingy :-)

A few challenges for this card:

Rosie's Update:
Tomorrow is a big day for my Rosie. It's the last cycle of conventional chemo with Doxorubicin. She's also on metronomic chemo with Palladia and we will keep that going for 2 months or so ... then we'll see what the scans show us.

That's all from me today. Thank you so very much for stopping by and I wish you a day of pretty flowers and blue butterflies :-)

Rosie's Update:
Rosie spent all of yesterday asleep and ate very little. She's on a special high-calorie high-nutrition formula. It helps with the nausea and the lack of appetite. There are oral meds she has to take, so skipping meals is not an option. The first couple of days are usually the worst. I'm confident she'll do better tomorrow. Thank you for all your loving thoughts.

And thanks for stopping by today. I'm sorry I haven't been actively blogging or commenting. With so much going on, I've focused my crafting mainly on getting my DT commitments out on time.  I'll be back tomorrow with another post for another challenge. It's marathon week for me!  Have a lovely weekend, my friends, and I'll see y'all tomorrow.
