Good morning, friends! Time for a new theme over at Tuesday Throwdown Challenge and this week were are playing "Add Lace". Our sponsor for this challenge is The Ribbon Resource and they have tons of gorgeous ribbons, lace and other pretty trimmings for your crafty needs.

My card project features a length of simple white lace tied in a bow. This is a sympathy card and I'm keeping it simple and tasteful. The bluebells are from Clearly Besotted's Fresh Flowers set, heat embossed in white on Canson Watercolour Paper and coloured with Caran d'Ache Supra Soft water colour pencils.

Here's a close-up. I added a few blobs of Baby Blue Liquid Pearls and a couple of strokes of Clear Wink of Stella.

Chicks and Ice-Cream

Hello Friends! It's Good Friday and we're off to church soon. We have friends arriving later this evening, staying over for the holidays. Busy few days ahead.

Ok, so I just LOOOOVE Lawn Fawn's new Chirpy Chirp Chirp set. Well, guess what? These chicks found their way onto an ice-cream themed Easter card! How cool is that? (pun intended!)

I made a 4½" square card, cut out with the LF's Large Stitched Square dies. The centre panel is popped up on foam tape. For the cute characters I used Chirpy Chirp Chirp and Treat Yourself stamps and coordinating dies.

Stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured them with Copics. And lots of Clear Wink of Stella on the bunny ears and ice-cream. There's Gold Wink Of Stella on the chicks... it's Easter and they deserve some shimmer too. For the greeting I used VersaFine Deep Lagoon and Onyx Black. Final touch, some Glossy Accents on the belly band of the tubs.

Have a beautiful day and I'll see y'all soon.

ATSM #186: Anything Goes

Hello again! Time for another challenge over at Addicted To Stamps and More. This week the theme is an easy one - Anything Goes. Absolutely no excuse not to play along! Our sponsor this week is SLS Lines.

I made a spring-themed square card using a digi from my stash. This one's called Flowers For Mom. The card is simply embellished with some twine tied in a knot. The patterned paper is by Basic Grey.

I coloured the cute little boy with my Faber-Castell Polychromos. Just to add some interest, I added little droplets of Liquid Pearls.

Chocolate Baroque: Baby Dolls

Good morning, friends. I'm back with project featuring the new Babushka stamp set. I have to admit that at first I found it uncomfortable working with these image. I just didn't know what to do with them. But I've come to learn than when in doubt Clean and Simple is pretty good bet!

To create the background I used WRMK Whimsy embossing folder and inked the edges with Aged Mahogany distress ink.

I stamped the 3 dolls separately with Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Solar White cardstock,  coloured using Graph'It alcohol markers and fussy cut before adhering to them to the embossed background with foam tape. For added sparkle I applied Stardust Stickles to their head scarves. I deliberately kept this card super simple and without extra embellishments, which makes it perfect for mailing.

Tag You're It #43 : Guest Designer

That's right, friends! I'm guesting again over Tag You're It. Super excited! The inspiration tag for Challenge #43 is a classy creation by Donna Peachy. My offering is inspired by the grassy background, the natural twine, the 3 three red butterflies and the inspirational sentiment on Donna's tag.

Using Spellbinder's Labels 4 die, I cut a piece of thick watercolour card and inked the bottom half with Weathered Wood and the top half with Squeezed Lemonade. Then I stamped one of the tall grass from Chocolate Baroque's Wild Meadow set with Memento Bamboo Leaves.

Donna's tag features teeny tiny butterflies - I don't have these in my stash. I decided on hearts and to make the embellishment, I cut out 3 hearts using the smallest of Lawn Fawn's Hearts die, brushed each with Clear Wink of Stella and applied Glossy Accents.

The sentiment is from Chocolate Baroque's Loving Sentiments set, stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black.

Chocolate Baroque Colour Challenge #21

Hello, friends and welcome to another month of Chocolate Baroque inspired fun -  Chocolate Baroque Colour Challenge #21. We have a lovely colour swatch for you to use in your projects - fresh verdant colours. If you haven't played yet, now's the time to do so.

You can use any medium to create your projects: paints, inks, pencils, pens, stains, etc., as long as you stick to the colours from the colour swatch, using as much or as little of each colour as you wish.  You don't have to use Chocolate Baroque stamps to play along but if you do you will be entered into a random draw to win £15 to spend on Chocolate Baroque stamps. All participants will have a chance to be on the Design Team's Top Three list and proudly display winner's badge on their blog.

So here's an easy Easter card. The bed of flowers is from the Springtime Edges set and the sentiment is from the Easter Traditions set. Both are stamped with VersaFine Olympia Green. The background took some work. I wanted a fresh vibrant look which did not overpower the focal image. I picked Distress Inks for the job: Cracked Pistachio, Lucky Clover, Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass and Evergreen Bough. For textural interest - a few blobs of Liquid Pearls in Mint and Baby Blue and the card is done.

Here's a closer look at the flowers. I coloured them with Faber-Castel Polychromos and added some sparkle with Wink of Stella Clear brush.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by - I really do appreciate for sweet comments. Have an amazing day and I'll see you again in a day or so. Take care and stay warm!

Tuesday Throwdown #285: Round and Round

Good morning, friends! Time for a new theme over at Tuesday Throwdown Challenge and this week were are playing "Round and Round". Our sponsor for this challenge is Lacy Sunshine. My project features one of their many cute images called Rory's Eggstra Delivery.

I made a circle card using Spellbinders Standard Circle dies and added a layer using Spellbinders Scallop Circle die to make a top folding card. I inked around the image with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. The focus is on the cute image, so I kept he embellishments to a minimum - Daffodil Liquid Pearls and some sheer peach ribbon tied in a bow.

Here's a closer look at little Rory. I coloured her with my beloved Faber-Castell Polychromos.

Oh Happy Day!

Hello friends! A quick post to share a card I made over the weekend. And yes, it took me the entire weekend. I think my mojo is waning... not sure why.

The sun is finally shining here, the weather is marginally warmer, at least during the day, and Easter is but a fortnight away. So yes... oh happy day indeed! And today's card is about the sun breaking through the clouds. I'm using Lawn Fawn's new Chirpy Chirp Chirp set and mixed it up with some older dies: Puffy Clouds, Picket Fence, Grassy Border and the sun from Spring Showers. The greeting is from the Gingham Backdrop set, stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black. I inked the edges of the clouds with Weathered Wood Distress Ink

I did some simple colouring with Copic markers and slapped on some sparkle with the Wink Of Stella Clear Brush.

Chocolate Baroque: Russian Fairytale

Good morning, friends. Have you checked out  the new Babushka A5 stamp set by Chocolate Baroque? This set features the 3 designs of Russian Nesting Dolls - called Matryoska. If you don't want to play with dolls, this set also has 2 Russian churches that you can incorporate in your projects.

For my card project, I stamped the larger church 3 times with VersaFine Smokey Grey. Then I masked them and worked on the sky by blending Distress Inks to create the twilight scene. I punched out a circle mask for the moon and added colour with: Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire, Preserved Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, Milled Lavender and Victorian Velvet. I dotted some Stardust Stickles for the twinkling stars.

To ground the churches I blended earth tones: Frayed Burlap, Tea Dye, Old Paper and Antique Linen. With a coloured pencil I added added some grass. To finish the project, I added some highlights to the buildings with a white gel pen.

I coloured the building with Faber Castell Polychromo pencils. You can see from the close-up that I kept the blending loose and light for a sketchy look. You can take time to get a smooth blend ... but I was feeling particularly impatient on that day. :)

My stomach flu is back! Urgh! Just when I thought I was getting better. But, being the greedy so-and-so that I am, I probably stuffed my face too soon. Anyway, back to the doctor I went for a finger wagging speech about what not to do! Sheesh!

Thank you so much for stopping by today, and for your continued support. I'll be around to visit you, so don't you worry. :)

ATSM #184: Clean And Simple

Hello again, friends! Time for another challenge over at Addicted To Stamps and More. This week we are playing Clean and Simple and our sponsor is STAMPlorations. For this challenge, you can create anything you like as long as it is CAS.

Here's my clean and simple romantic card using stamps by Clearly Besotted.

I surprised myself at how easily this card came together. Masking, stamping and gold embossing - that's it. And, look at the white space! I have white space woo hoo ... and that is quite an achievement for me!

Mothering Sunday

Hello, friends. It's been a good few days since my last blog post. Been feeling poorly - gastroenteritis. The usual aches, pains, cramps, fever, nausea, vomiting and a thumping headache.

End of my sob story. Here's my offering for this fortnight's Tag You're It Challenge #42, inspired by Marybeth Lopez's sweet tag. I'm working with Marybeth's colour combo and some of her design elements: the floral theme and stitched tag. For the flowers I used Clearly Besotted's A Little Something stamps and coordinating dies. The tag is Lawn Fawn's Stitched Circle Tag.  I knocked back the white with some Tumbled Glass DI, a dollop of Glossy Accents on the bow and little droplets of Mint Liquid Peals in the centre of each flower. And pink ribbon to finish the tag.

Mothering Sunday is celebrated on the Forth Sunday of Lent - also called Laetare Sunday, Refreshment Sunday or Rose Sunday (for the rose coloured vestments). Children give out presents and posies to mothers, which was incorporated in our Sunday service.

I started making these tags a couple of weeks ago. They are to be tied on posies of pink carnations that the kids in our church would preset to their respective mothers. I photographed one batch of posies. The final count was 25... and I went straight to bed after and stayed there till Sunday morning!

So, why Pink Carnations? Carnations have a history dating back more than 2000 years. Christian legend has it that at the time that Jesus was carrying the cross, Mary cried. Everywhere Mary's tears fell, pink carnations bloomed. These flowers have become a symbol of a mother’s pure and undying love for her children.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I'll leave you with a picture of a posy that was placed in St. Mary's Chapel today. I'm off to bed and will see y'all in a couple of days. Good night and sweet dreams.

The floral stamps and dies are by Clearly Besotted. I used TCW's Chicken Wire stencil to create the the background.

Here's a close-up. I added a few holographic sequins and blobs of Stardust Stickles in the middle for a little friendly sparkle. :)
