Love Is In The Air

Are you as excited as I am that it's finally Friday?! We're off to Lisbon's biggest Pet Festival this evening. At 21h there's an hour long session dedicated to Labradors. It would be so wrong not to take Charlie to meet his cousins. Peanut is taging along for moral support. And Mummy and Daddy are getting ready to gush and swoon. That's how we roll in Chez Martins! :)

On to the card. It's CAS because ... I'm a sucker for punishment. Clearly Besotted stamps and dies are in play... and a few favourites dies by Lawn Fawn.

I used scrap patterned paper by Basic Grey for the sun and the scripty love. A few green bling, Stardust Stickles, foam tape - and the card is done. That's the short story. I won't tell you how long it too me!

Chocolate Baroque Colour Challenge #19

Hello, friends and welcome to Chocolate Baroque's first challenge for the year -  Chocolate Baroque Colour Challenge #19. We have a lovely colour swatch for you to use in your projects - four soft pastels. If you haven't played yet, now's the time to do so.

You can use any medium to create your projects: paints, inks, pencils, pens, stains, etc., as long as you stick to the colours from the colour swatch, using as much or as little of each colour as you wish.  You don't have to use Chocolate Baroque stamps to play along but if you do you will be entered into a random draw to win £15 to spend on Chocolate Baroque stamps. All participants will have a chance to be on the Design Team's Top Three list and proudly display winner's badge on their blog.

So here's my project - a watercolour piece.  Did I not tell you that I am hooked on watercolours now! I used stamps from the Patchwork Landscape A5 sheet, VersaFine Smokey Grey ink and Winsor & Newton watercolours on a brand new pad of Canson Watercolour paper. First time using this paper and I'm loving it. If, like me, you love Canson MultiMedia 300gsm paper, you'll love this too

ATSM #178: Holiday

Hello again, friends! Time for another challenge over at Addicted To Stamps and More. This week the theme is my favourite - Holiday. Our sponsor this week is DRS Designs Rubber Stamps.

I've used two images by DRS Designs to make my card: the Snow Globe and inside it I have the Triple Tree with Snow. I coloured the images with Graph'It alcohol markers, fussy cut and popped it up on foam tape. The patterned paper is from Papermania's Country Christmas 6x6 pad. I heat embossed the sentiment in red onto a piece of vellum.

And no Christmas card of mine will be complete without a sprinkling of sparkles, I did not hold back on the Stardust Stickles and Distress Rock Candy Glitter.

Birthday Balloons

Hello, friends! A very quick post from me to share a fun little birthday card for João (John in English) - an amazing young man who walks our dogs on week days. I've used Clearly Besotted stamps and dies. A few festive curls, twirls and stars from LF Party Animal also found their way onto this card.

I gave each balloon a generous coating of Clear Wink Of Stella, which ended up looking like white specks in the photo. The balloons are in João's favourite colours and I used VersaFine Satin Red, Imperial Purple and Spanish Moss. The birthday banner and extras are stamped with VersaFine Deep Lagoon.

Wonderful Watercolour

I'm a little obsessed with watercolours at the moment and have been experimenting in secret. That really translates into "I've had fun but most of it ended up in the bin". I'm better with controlled colouring which is why I love my Caran d'Ache Supra Soft pencil... but the splodgy backgrounds using tons of water... that just freaks me out.

2 challenges forced me out of the "colour closet" to display my work. There's always room for improvement, so comments, suggestions, hints, tips are most welcome.

First up is the card for Lawnscaping Challenge #122 - Watercolouring. The entire design piece is made up of water coloured elements on Canson Multimedia 300gsm paper. I used Winsor & Newton Watercolours for the background,  applied with great trepidation. It could be bolder and brighter.  For the clouds and sun I used Lawn Cuts Spring Showers and  water coloured the sun.

I also watercoloured the itty bitty main characters and supporting cast from Lawn Fawn Critters In The Forest set. But this time I used my Caran d'Ache Suprasoft Watercolour pencils. (I'm all about control!) Then I fussy cut them instead of using the coordinating dies. To add a little shine, I applied a few strokes of Wink of Stella in Clear and Gold.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday: Create With Critters

Next up - a watercoloured tag. And this one is for the Tag You're It Challenge inspired by
Erin Thiem's creation. It looks like Erin did some water colouring too. So picked that, along with her colour combo, the clouds and the red vehicle for my card. I'm using my long forgotten Waltzingmouse Half Pint Heroes stamps. I sneezed while stamping the sentiment and ... let's just pretend it is an intentional design twist. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! To cut the tag I used Lawn Cuts Tag You're It. I'm less pleased with this project... looks kinda ... sloppy. Not sure why.

As before, I coloured the car with Caran d'Ache Suprasoft Watercolour pencils and fussy cut it.

Thus ends my watercolouring adventure! Thank you so much for stopping by and have a lovely weekend. And one last thing - there's a new challenge in town: MHKDesigns January/February Challenge. Lovely prizes to be won. If you're into that sort of thing which, I shamelessly admit I am, make sure you drop in and play along!

MHKDesigns January / February Challenge

Hello, friends!  Here we are - at our very first MHKDesigns Challenge. It's all about keeping it fun and simple, so each each month you will get  a photo and colour swatch prompt. YOU decide which you're inspired by to create your work of art. It can be either or both. AND you are free to make what ever paper project you fancy - a card, scrapbook layout, a tag, a box, art journal page... you choose! The options are limitless.

The Design Team will be showcasing products from MHKDesigns Etsy Shop and we would love to see you use them too. However, you are free to use any products and enter the challenge to win some fabulous goodies by MHKDesigns.

Let's take a look at the Challenge prompt:

Inspired by both the photo and the colours, I incorporated the wooden background, the ribbon and the stemmed flower into my card. In my stash of MHKDesigns are two products that work perfectly for this challenge: Tulip of Thanks digital stamps and Worn & Weathered paper bundle. Here's the end result, a simple design with a beautiful expression of gratitude.

I coloured the flowers with Faber-Castell Polychromos, added some Stardust Stickles and finished the card with a simple knot at the base of the stem. And that's all it takes to say Thank YOU!

Chocolate Baroque: Girly Gears and Soft Steampunk

Gosh! It's only Wednesday... and I'm so ready for the week to end. In the meantime, here are a couple of cards I made featuring stamps from Chocolate Baroque's Steampunk Butterfly A5 sheet.

First up is this this feminine number with soft colours. I inked up the background with Distress Inks: Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Raspberry Preserve and Shaded Lilac. Next, I stamped the gears from Steampunk Butterfly with Memento London Fog ink.  The sentiment is from Patchwork Landscape A4 sheet stamped with VersaFine Imperial Purple ink.

I heat embossed the large butterfly on purple cardstock with WOW Rich Gold embossing powder and popped it up with foam tape.

My second card is a striking red-black-white combo. For this card I stamped the quarter lace fragment from the Steampunk Butterfly A5 sheet to form a complete circle and heat embossed it with WOW Bright White embossing powder. And voila - a lace doily! Keeping it simple with a sentiment from the Pretty Poppies A5 sheet, heat embossed it with Zing! Opaque Rouge powder onto a piece of vellum. In keeping with the focal image, I also rounded the corners of the card with WRMK ½" Corner Chomper.

Hiding In My Craft Room #234: Embossing

There you have it - my feminine take on the steampunk style. Steampunk, like Vintage and Shabby Chic, is a mystery to me. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to work these stamps on my own terms. Yes... all you Steampunk Purists out there, feel free to snigger.... I know I am! :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by today. I'll see you tomorrow. There's a brand new challenge in town... and I've made a card to share with you! :) Have an awesome day, friends!

Tuesday Throwdown #277: Under The Weather

Good morning, friends! Welcome to another year of Tuesday Throwdown Challenges.  Our theme this week is "Under The Weather" and we are sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamps. I picked this stamp called "Puppy" and made this get well card.

I coloured the little pup with Copics and added the sentiment on a tag. The word "hugs" is cut out of fun foam and coloured with Copic for a woody finish. The paper is by Basic Grey.

Here's a closer look at the little guy. I used Spellbinders Circle die and Scalloped Circle die for cutting and matting. To finish, a few blobs of Liquid Pearls and faux stitching around the circle.

Tag You're It #38

Happy Saturday, friends! What a beautiful day it is - sunny, dry, blue sky and a balmy 5ºC.  I'll make this brief 'coz I've got to get back out there and freeze my little behind off!

This year I plan to make more tags. I blame Tracey's 25 Tags of Christmas for my latest obsession.  For my first tag for 2016 I pulled out my LF stamps and dies for this tag. For the tag base I used LF's Stitched Circle Tag die and Canson Multi Media cardstock. Next I used some watercolour to on the background and LF's Grassy Border die.

I was inspired by the balloon, the heart, a critter and the water colour background on Tracey's tag. But I wanted to shake things up a bit. So I went with warmer colours, a round tag and came up with this:

The little fox and all his accessories are from Party Animal, coloured with Copics and cut with coordinating dies. I brushed some Clear Wink Of Stella to the heart and some Ranger Glossy Accent.

ATSM #176: Anything Goes

Hello again! Time for another challenge over at Addicted To Stamps and More. This week the theme is an easy one - Anything Goes. Absolutely no excuse not to play along! Our sponsor this week is STAMPlorations and the prize is a $10 gift certificate.

I've used a digi by STAMPlorations to make this simple card. The sentiment is from STAMPlorations' It's All About You set, stamped with VersaFine Black Onyx. Some WRMK Aqua Washi Tape and the card is done.

Here's a closer look at the image. I coloured various elements of the flower with Graph'It markers, fussy cut them and used foam tape to layer the whole thing.

So now it's your turn to link up your project at Addicted To Stamps and More. Don't forget to follow the rules to be eligible for the prize.

Thanks for stopping by and have fun with this challenge.

Winter Wonderland

Good morning, friends. It's an icy start to the week for us... so NOT my thing! We had a hectic weekend. I finally caught up on some of my long overdue chores. Still lots more to do... which I'm saving for another rainy day! :)

On to the card. Made this Lawn Fawn number last Friday in a bit of a rush. Not quite what I had in mind - things always look better in my head. I'm using 2 sets: an older but never used Winter In The Park and Frosty Friends. ... and coordinating dies. I ended up also using  my Cutter Bee scissors for a closer snip on some of the images.

I inked up the background with Distress Inks - Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Tumbled Glass. Stamped the snowflakes with Colorbox Silver ink and for the lamp posts I used VersaFine Onyx Black and Satin Red for the bows. To cut out the card front I used LF Large Stitched Square die. A touch of Copics for the street lamps and the card is done. Didn't take me long to make ... a rarity!

Here's a look at the birdies and mitts from LF Frosty Friends. I coloured them with Copics. No winter scene would be complete without glitter - Stardust Stickles and Distress Rock Candy loose glitter. For the bench I used VersaFine Vintage Sepia and popped the snowbank on some foam tape for dimension.

Chocolate Baroque: An Old Postcard

Good morning, fellow Chocoholics. My turn today to share a project over at the Chocolate Baroque DT Blog and I'm playing with one of the new cling singles called Walled Garden. Here's a simple project that you could easily make without getting too inky. I was inspired by my grandmother's very old holiday snaps.

To recreate this old postcard look, start by stamping the image on cream cardstock with Memento Espresso Truflle. I coloured it with alcohol markers - a mix of Copics and Graph'It markers - but pencils will work well too. Lastly, ink the edges with Vintage Photo and Antique Linen Distress Inks. To soften the wall I added stamped the falling ivy from the June Fairy DL sheet using VersaFine Toffee.

Here's a closer look at the gorgeous image:

Tuesday Throwdown #275: Winter Wonderland

Good morning, friends! Happy New Year, friends and welcome to another year of Tuesday Throwdown Challenges. With the hustle and bustle of Christmas 2015 just about over, it's time to have some seasonal fun. Our theme this week is "Winter Wonderland" and we are sponsored by My Graphico.

I picked 3 digi stamps from Frosty Friends to create a playful scene with snowpeople and birds in the snow. It's a seasonal card without sentiment and may even work as a birthday or friendship card.

I stencilled the background with the large dots using Tumbled Glass DI followed by little snowflakes embossed with WOW Silver EP. Then I added a few star shaped sequins. This card was a little tricky to photograph because of the glare from the silver and stars, so the picture is a little dark. All the glitter and sparkle didn't help either! Looks heaps better IRL.

I coloured the little guys with Copics, fussy cut around them and several layers of Wink of Stella Clear Glitter and Stardust Stickles.
