Have a Safe Trip

Hello, my friends! How's Wednesday treating you? In a couple of days the week will be over ... yikes! Ordinarily I'd be looking forward to the weekend but I'm kinda freaking out here! The endless list of things to do before our hols, the worry of leaving our furbabies in the care of the house/pet-sitter, the stress of falling behind on blog-visits (sorry!) and cap it all I forgot to send a card to wish our friends a safe trip on their holiday of a life time. I planned to make a card for them a couple of weeks ago but... oh well, here I am 2 days before they leave and having to hand deliver it instead.

The papers are from Papermania's Capsule Collection. Very few embellies: some bling and a button - perfect for a couple of 50-something brothers.  For cutting and matting Spellbinders Rectangle and Scalloped Rectangle dies.

The train is from Prima's "Craftsman" cling set, stamped with Memento London Fog. I inked the edges with Faded Jeans DI ... and everything is hoisted up with pop-dots. The sentiment is a word art by Stamp Art Design by Kathryne.

Have A Fantastic Birthday

It's Monday and I'm counting down to our summer hols away. In a couple of weeks we should be at our dream destination BUT before we leave there are a gazillion things to do. Mainly chores, with a few DT cards and posts to schedule. I'm not really complaining about the latter as I'd rather be crafting than doing the laundry!

Anywho, here's a birthday card for a friend. I'll be popping this in the mail before we leave.

I decided on the square version of the sketch. The papers are from First Edition's "New Leaf" 8x8 pad. For cutting and layering I used Spellbinders Circles and Eyelet Circle dies.

The greeting is from Clearly Besotted's "It's Your Birthday" set, stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa. I used the coordinating die to cut out the party hat. To finish, some coffee coloured sheer ribbon.

That balloon is also from the same stamp set.

Challenges for this card:
Mojo Monday #304 - sketch
Amusing Challenges #9 "Anything Goes"
Eureka Stamps #50 "Anything Goes"
Seize The Birthday "Anything Goes Birthday Celebration"
Moxie Fab World."Birthday Creations Week:Birthday Card"
Make It Monday #151 "Anything Goes"
Craftin' Desert Divas "Birthday Linky Party"
Paper Playtime #15 "Patterned Paper"
One Stitch At A Time #174 "Anything Goes"

So that's my card for today. I have to get back to my chores...urgh!
Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you soon my friends.

Christmas Card Club #14: Origami / Teabag Fold

In the scorching heat of July what do we do? Make a Christmas card, of course! And, over at the Christmas Card Clubhouse our very own Miss Karen has convinced us to incorporate an often neglected technique in our cards: Origami or Teabag Fold.

Instead of folding itty bitty pieces of paper and putting them together I decided to take the lazy way out. And so, I grabbed one piece 6x6 pale blue polka dot paper and made an origami 8 pointed star. It could also pass off as a snowflake, I guess. Either way, they also make wonderful festive ornaments.

Here's the link to a tutorial from Origami on how to make the 8 Pointed Star. I could have done a tutorial but I don't want to make a public spectacle of my veiny, knotty fingers. Besides, it's important that you to learn from a pro.

This is my card. I'm keeping it simple  - it's all about the star.

The patterned papers are Doodlebug....ancient 12x12 sheets from I don't know when or where.  Keeping the embellies simple with 4 colourless bling, a flat blue crystal flower and a small silver bow - that's it.

It's a dimensional star BUT the flaps fold down flat for easy mailing. All the recipient has to do is fluff it up and it's back in business. The quarter inch ribbon and bling are so small they don't add any bulk at all to the card.
And just because I'm in a festive mood, I lined the edges with Icicle Stickles.

The sentiments are from WMS Seasons of Love Tags stamped with Memento Danube Blue.

 Challenges for this card:

Card Crafters' Circle #85 "Christmas in July"

Eclectic Ellapu #40: Anything Goes

Hello there! We meet again for another Eclectic Ellapu challenge and the theme for this week is everyone's favourite: Anything Goes. Throw caution to the wind, indulge in some creative madness and do whatever you like.

I decided that showcasing my madness may not be in anyone's best interest - least of all mine - so I'm playing safe and made this birthday card instead.

The patterned papers are from First Edition's "Isabelle" 8x8 pad. I wanted to keep this card simple, so no fancy embellishments - just some gingham ribbon in aqua.

The image is from Chocolate Baroque's Seashell Collage set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Graph It pens. I applied some Crystal Stickles on the water and did some sponging with TH's Broken China for the sky.

Loads of room here for a birthday message.

Challenges for this card:

Catch the Bug
Crafty Calendar

You've seen my project for this challenge, now it's your turn to make something and link it up at the Eclectic Ellapu Challenge Blog. If you need a little creative nudge, why not visit the rest of the DT. You've sure to walk away with tons of ideas. So get cracking folks! You have until 24h00 Saturday next week before the linky party ends.  Good luck and I'll see ya soon!

Ruby Lady

You're probably wondering about the title... "Oh no! Is she referring to another seasonal tipple?" Is there a cocktail out there called Ruby Lady? Is it a stronger, more potent version of the Pink Lady we had on Monday? Maybe. Truth is - I don't really know. But if I had to pick a drink, I'd call this one a Cosmopolitan - my dear friend Cosima's absolute favourite drink.

If you haven't guessed it already - this card is for Cosima. She's a beautiful person with a loving, giving heart and will not hesitate to tell you if your hips are too big for that dress.... or if your head is too big with this room! She also happens to be the baby of our Rosary group and will hit the big 4-0 in a few days. I made her a card, from all of us in the group.

The papers are from Wild Rose Studio's Vintage Rose 6x6 pad. Cosima is not one for frills and fuss, so there are few embellies on her card: 2 mulberry roses and 6 purple blings. For cutting and layering I used Spellbinders Circle and Scalloped circle dies. For the border, XCut Fancy Leaf Border Punch. The sentiment is from Chocolate Baroque's "A Thing of Beauty" set, stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk.

The musical heart is a nod to Cosima's love of music. She is always singing or humming a tune and is the voice in our church choir. The stamp is from Chocolate Baroque's Music Fanfare, heat embossed in black and did some inking with TH's Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar and Vinatge Photo DIs. I also added little dots of gold Liquid Pearls on each scallop.

The sentiment is one of Word Art Wednesday's earlier challenges and I added a red bling to dot the i in rubies. There's only one snag... there isn't enough room for personal messages and 17 of us will have to, somehow, squeeze in our signatures.... or perhaps we can only leave our initials. I don't know what goes through my head sometimes!

Challenges for this card:

Tuesday Morning Sketches #208 - sketch
Divas By Design "Anything Goes"
Twist Of Faith Cards #47 "Borders / Fancy Edges"
Word Art Wednesday #90 "Anything Goes" - uplifting sentiment
Paper Take Weekly "Die-ing For A Punch"

Craft-room Challenge #56 "Heat Embossing"
Die Cuttin' Divas #12 "Twice Is Nice" - 2 roses
Polly Craft #3 "Ruby Red"
Scrapper's Delights #4 "Inspired By A Song" - Psalm 40:3 "New Song in My Heart" (link to this song below)

That's my card for today. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a happy day with a song in your heart too. Catch up with you later, my friends!

Tuesday Throwdown #157: Toes in the Sand

Good Morning, my friends! And here we are  at another round of Tuesday Throwdown fun. This week we're continuing with the summer theme....after all it is scorching hot in the northern hemisphere. What better way than to cool off at the beach.

Our theme this week: "Toes in the Sand" and we have "Sweet n' Sassy Stamps" playing along with us by generously providing the DT some utterly cute digis. For my card project, I'm using a cheeky little digi called "Cocoa and the Beach Ball". You really ought to check out the Sweet n' Sassy On-line Store where the Summer Sale is in full swing.

Enough banter, let's head on down to the beach and meet my card:

The papers for this card are from Fancy Pants "Beach Babe" 6x6 pad. For cutting and matting I used Spellbinders Ovals and Lacy Ovals dies. Few embellies made it to the card: red gingham ribbon and some yellow bling.

Here's a close-up of Cocoa and his Beach Ball. I coloured him with SN markers

On the inside is the greeting from Chocolate Baroque's Birthday Words set, stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle.

This is such a fun challenge, I hope you'll join in the Tuesday Throwdown beach party. As always, create a new project for this challenge and link it up over at the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge Blog. And if you need some inspiration to get you started, take a closer look at what the rest of the DT has on offer. So what are you waiting for, my friends. let's play!

I'm taking my chard to these linky parties:

Thanks for stopping by today and I'll be seeing ya soon! Toodles!

Pink Lady

Why Pink Lady? I happened to love this yummy summer cocktail. It's gin-based and gets its gorgeous luscious colour from grenadine.

Good evening, my crafty friends. My Monday is almost over and here I am with my MojoMonday offering - a birthday card which I'll add to my tiny stash of similar cards. When I say tiny, I really do mean tiny as the so-called stash is all of 3! Here is the latest addition:

The patterned papers are from Papermania's Parkstone Pink 6x6 pad. Embellishments include lace, pearls, ribbon, twine - all in pink and white. I've 2 Spellbinder dies Deckled Rectangle and Ribbon Tag. The greeting is by WMS stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.

The focal image is from Chocolate Baroque's "Indian Textiles" set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Promarkers. ( Pink Carnation, Rose Pink, Dusky Rose, Pale Pink, Pear Green and Lime Zest)

I decided to keep the inside empty...fro now.

Some challenges for this card:

Whoopsi Daisy "Use 2 Or More Die-cuts"

Flower Girl

Hello there, fellow crafters! What a gloriously warm Sunday it is. It's not scorching hot over here, just the right amount of heat, a cool breeze and an extra cold G&T! Blissful Sunday!

Just popping by to post a card I made using an this adorable image from PolkaDoodles's BonBon Belles Double CD.  'Tis a gate-fold card to send to a friend's 12-year old daughter who's recovering from having her tonsils removed.

The papers are from Basic Grey's Wisteria Collection. Purple and blue are her favourite colours. Simple embellishments: buttons, sheer ribbon and some bling. For cutting and matting the image I used Spellbinders Ovals and Labels 18 dies.

This image is from PolkaDoodles BonBon Belles Double CD. I used PROMARKERS for her dress and shoes ( Lilac, Orchid and Amethyst),  belt (Lipstick Red and Red),  flowers (Poppy, Crimson and Peach)  and leaves (Pear and Lime). Graph'It pens for her hair ( Chocolate, Cognac and Cajou) and skin ( Cotton, Nude, Skin, Satin).

The sentiment is from WMS Say It Loud set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black.
Crafting When We Can #49 "Floral";
That Craft Place "It's a Girl Thing"; and
Pile It On #29 "Thinking Of You / Just Because";
Make It Monday #150 "Anything Goes"

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and I'll see you tomorrow.

3 Birthday Minis

Hello there, fellow crafters! I hope you're enjoying the weekend. This is a very quick post of 3 minis I made last night ... because I need them for today... because I live for the stress of last-minute projects... not! Why the rush?  We have a birthday party / BBQ later this afternoon for 3 siblings who were born exactly a day and a year apart. That's some wicked planning on the part of their parents!

I'm going CAS again...might as well since I enjoyed my last foray into that well-trimmed field. Tell me what you think... and be honest.

There's all three together.

I embossed some pale cream CS with the Swiss Dots folder and did a Direct To Paper with Memento Bamboo Leaves to bring out the spots. Then I cut out some half inch flags using scrap bits from Cosmo Cricket's Togetherness pad.

The cupcake is from Clearly Besotted's It's Your Birthday set, cut with its coordinating die. To stamp the cupcake I used Mememto Potter's Clay and Bamboo Leaves for the "cherry". For layering and matting I used Spellbinder's Circles and Scalloped Circles dies.  Just one bling for a celebratory sparkle.

And plenty of foam tape for dimension.

On the inside I have a greeting from the It's Your Birthday set, stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle.

And now for some challenges:

That's all from me today. Enjoy the weekend my friends and stay cool!

PolkaDoodles #29: Let It Fly

Good morning, fellow crafters! Are you ready for another Polka Doodles challenge? I hope you are because we have a fun and easy challenge for you: "Let It Fly". All that means is your project must feature something that can fly - animate or inanimate. Think about the possibilities, my friends! Balloons or Birds; Banners or Bats; Flags or Fairies, Pennants or Pigeons....whatever you fancy as long as it flies.

For my DT project I made a card using papers and pre-coloured digi from the Bonbon Belles Double CD. These CDs are packed with so many yummy goodness that you will be spoilt for choice.

The script paper is from the Coconut Ice Colour Burst Collection in the CD.  I continued with the colours and polka dot in her flag with similar ribbon tied in a bow and cut out banners with the same. To finish, some bling,

I cut and layered the image with Spellbinders Circles and Scalloped Circles dies. I like that her feet are dangling beyond the die-cuts.

Instead of stamping a sentiment I stitched around "Thinking of You" to subtly highlight it.
Ooops.... nothing on the inside.

And now for some challenges:

I hope you will join in this challenge. There's so many fun variations to the "Let It Fly" theme which would be perfect for summer cards. And with the BonBon Belles CD you will have plenty to work with. It's a bargain at only £17.99 with FREE postage & packing, available from the PolkaDoodles online store.

Thanks for stopping by and I'll see y'all soon!

Brighter days

I made this card for a friend who's battling depression. It is a debilitating disease, and very often misunderstood. She's pulling through with the love and support of her family, friends and faith. Very late last night she called to say "I think the cloud is clearing. I might go for a walk in the sun tomorrow". And what do I say? "That's nice. Don't forget your sun block". I'm sorry - it was 2am, I was thinking straight... I wasn't thinking at all.  At 5am I found myself sitting at my craft table making this card to send her today. I'm glad she called.

It had to be a simple card. The paper is from Raspberry Road's Summer pack. Embellies: twine and 3 bling - how's that for restraint?!

The sentiment is from Chocolate Baroque's Words of Comfort & Cheer, stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk. The stylised bird is also from the same set, stamped with Memento Danube Blue and touches of colour with Promarkers. I fussy cut the bird and layered the sentiment on red CS cut with Spellbinders Label 23 die.

I stamped the bird on the inside, this time with Memento Rhubarb Stalk...and I took the liberty of cropping his tail feathers!

That's my card, with some help from:
Tuesday Morning Sketches #207 - sketch
Colour Q #198 - colours
Word Art Wednesday #89 " Anything Goes" - Uplifting Sentiment
Paper Pretties Wednesday Challenge #17 "Tongue Tied" - sentiment as focal point
Lexi's Creations #94 "For A Friend"
Sweet Stamps #126 "Anything Goes"

Have a beautiful day. Stay cool - it's another scorcher of a day. Thanks for stopping by and we'll catch up soon!
