Hello, My Friend!

Hello, my friends! Today I am a Guest Designer at Aud Sentiments Challenge #81 and I made a friendship card using the adorable "Little Bear" digi by this week's sponsor Stamp Art Design. I'm planning on giving this card to an equally adorable young man of 6, who just lost his front tooth... bless him!

The papers are from Wild Rose Studio's "For Men"

Here a close- up "Little Bear" and his friend. I coloured the image with SN and Promarkers. For cutting and layering I used Spellbinder Circles and Scalloped Circles dies.

I cut the sentiment out with Spellbinders Grommet Tags die, used a couple of eyelets and tied little blue bows with some twine.

What do you say to a little boy who thinks he's lost his tooth because he's OLD?!

In the meantime, I'm taking Little Bear to the following parties: Inkspirational Challenge #22 "Anything Goes"Crafty Sentiments "Show Us Stitching - Real or Faux"Simon Says Stamps Challenge "Anything Goes" and Lady Anne's Challenges "Nana Vic's Anything Goes". I hope you'll play along with Aud Sentiments Challenge #81 and don't forget to use the word "Friend" in your creation.

That's all from me today. Must dash - I hear Mr C loading the dishwasher and I need to rescue.... the dishes. Thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday Throwdown #149: Summer Reading

Goood morning, sweet crafters! Are you ready for another wonderful Tuesday Throwdown challenge? And have we got a fabulous one for you this week and it's called "Summer Reading". All you have to do is create a project based on your favourite book: a classic, a fairy-tale, a romantic get the idea.

Our sponsor this week is Lawn Fawn and I don't have to tell you about their adorable stamps. Swing by their on-line store and take a peek. But I must warn you... resistance is futile!

My card is based on a beautiful book by Sandra Horning called "The Giant Hug".  It's for ages 3 - 7... a little outside my age group but, trust me, it is a delightful, heart-warming book. I bought it for my nephew and couldn't help but read it, over and over again. It will melt your heart. To young mommies out there....put this on your list!

At the end of this post, I've included the synopsis from Amazon, but before that let's take a look at the card I made to go with this book, using Lawn Fawn's "On The Mend" clear stamp set:

I'm using leftover papers from Cosmo Cricket's "Togetherness" 6x6 pad - can't throw away the scraps. Some of the papers here remind me of my Gran.

Now tell me that image will not make Nana swoon! Adorable! I coloured it with Promarkers and used Spellbinders Circles and Scalloped Circles dies for cutting and layering.

A couple of buttons and some twine complete this simple card.

At the last minute, I decided that the hug should be from all of us.... a group hug of sorts!

I'm also playing along with: Use It Tuesday #56 "Anything Goes" (hoard items: DP and buttons); Sweet Stamps Challenge #119 "Flowers"Craft-room Challenge "Use Your Scraps"Love To Create #67 Read All About It"Craftin' Desert Divas #7 "Ribbon / Twine" and Fitz Town Challenge #01 "Anything Goes".

Thanks for stopping by today. For more ideas and inspiration, skip on over to the rest of my DT sister....and they'll have you creating in no time. And before I forget, here's what Amazon had to say about "The Giant Hug":

How do you give your granny a hug when she lives far away? Send it through the mail, of course! Owen’s hug travels across the country in a series of hilarious, sometimes awkward, always heartfelt embraces between animals of different shapes and sizes. Valeri Gorbachev’s adorable artwork pairs beautifully with Sandra Horning’s charming text, and makes for a fun, funny, and educational read-aloud. An unexpected twist at the end will delight readers and have kids asking for this book again and again.

See you over at the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge Blog!

Feel Better Soon

Here we are again, folks! Another Monday, another Mojo-card ... all done in our customary manic Monday manner. I'm sending this card out to a friend who is in need of a little get-well wish. Why? I don't have all the details but it involves a pair of stylish yet ill-fitting pointy toed shoes and a bar stool. Call me boring, but I prefer to end my day in comfy loafers, on my sofa.

Here's the card:

The papers are from Papermania's Capsule Collection.

That adorable little birdy is called Busy Bertha by Stitchy Bear Digi Stamps.  I coloured her with SN and Promarkers, using mainly yellows, aqua and pale green.

For cutting and layering, I used Nellie Snellen dies and Spellbinders. Some twine for the sentiment and pearls finish this card. And some foam tape to Bertha a lift.

And now for some challenges: Mojo Monday #295 - sketchThe Shabby Tea Room #169 "Shabby Sunshine" - photo inspirationOne Stitch At A Time #165 "Make It Stitchy" - must use a Stitchy Bear stampSketchy Colors #165 "Light Green, White and Yellow"Catered Crop "Mellow Yellow"Challenges 4 Everybody #21 "Anything Goes"Pile It On #21 "Put A Bird On It"Digi Makeover Challenge #90 "Anything Goes" and Addicted To Stamps #57 "Bingo" - Ribbon, Flowers, Sentiment.

That's all from me today. Have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow with a brand new Tuesday Throwdown challenge. Thanks for stopping by!

Polka Doodles #21: Libby the Gypsy Girl.

Hello there my friends. It's Friday! Yay! As if that isn't good enough, we have an brand new Polka Doodles challenge starting today. The theme for Challenge #21 is "To Die For". All you have to do is use die cuts on your card. How easy is that?!

I made a quickie birthday card for this challenge, using a pre-coloured image of Libby the Gypsy from the Fredericka Mini CD Collection. To jazz it up I used Spellbinder dies to make a frame for Libby. If you want to make impressive cards with minimum effort - for those last-minute projects - this CD collection is the bees-knees. What's more, there are tons of pretty papers in the CD and they match perfectly with the digis. Also included are digi stamps of othe 6 pretty little ladies for you to colour.

Take a look at my easy peasy card:

My card base is black. The background paper is from the Fredericka Mini CD Collection.  And to frame Nikky's lovely little gypsy girl I used Spellbinders Resplendant Rectangles dies. I'm playing with black and purple for my project.

Because the die-cuts are rather ornate, I'm keeping the rest of the card  simple by  just adding some bling, nothing else. And oh, some foam tape to give little Libby a lift.

Here's a close-up of the image. Beautifully coloured by Nikky Hall and perfect for when you need a card on the fly.

Oh look! More die cut on the inside! I thought why's the name of the game this week. The birthday sentiment is also from the Mini CD Collection.

I'm taking Libby to the following linky parties: Crafts And Me #134 "Lots of Layers"Paper Craft Star #146 "Beauty"Whimsy Stamps Monthly #59 "Anything Goes"L exi's Creations #90 "Black & White and one other colour" - purple and Digi Sketch "Cute".

Now it's your turn. Use a die or two or three in making your project. Then link it up over at the Polka Doodles Challenge Blog. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Friday!

Forever In Our Hearts

Hello there my friends. We received some sad news on Tuesday. The time had come for a dear friend to end her battle with cancer and go Home to the Lord. Little over a year ago she was full of life, bright and bubbly. We met regularly under the guise of playing bridge. We talked so much, we struggled to complete a rubber! She made us promise that when the time came, there will be no tearful mourning. Instead we will wear yellow, her favourite colour and sing happy hymns. But it's not easy to not to be sad, and near impossible to be cheerful as she wanted us to be....and I struggled to make this card, from the remaining 3, to give her mum.

The papers are by Crate Paper "Toy Box" 6x6 pad.

I'm using 2 stamps here. The daff is from Chocolate Baroque's Easter Traditions set, coloured with Promarkers. And the sentiment is from Our Daily Bread's Sharing Your Sorrow set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. Then I stamped again, slightly lower for a shadow effect. Quite please with how it turned out.

I cut the image out with Spellbinders Labels 4, inked the edges with TH's Peeled Paint  and popped it up with some foam tape.

Enough space on the inside for each of us to say a little something to her mum.

The sketch is from Tuesday Morning Sketches # 199; I picked the colours from Color Throwdown #243; other challenges: Word Art Wednesday #81 "Anything Goes"Perfect Sentiments #80 "Anything Goes"Cute Card Thursday #270 "Tie It Up" and Belli Challenge #170 "Flowers".

That's all from me today. Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back tomorrow with a DT post for PolkaDoodles. In the meantime, say hi to a friend 'cause we really don't know what tomorrow will bring. Have a great day, y'all!

Birthday Kitty

Almost midnight and I staggering in with my Mojo card. It's been an incredibly long day but I managed to squeeze in this birthday card for a dear friend. Here it is:

The patterned papers are from Frist Edition's Spring Feast 8x8 pad.

I went crazy with the foam tape - mounted the focal image and the main layer. For extras I added a tag stamped with a greeting from WMS Say It Loud set, some ribbon and 3 pearls.

The star of the show is this cat from Chocolate Baroque's Swirly Pets set, heat embossed in black.

On the inside I did some more stamping with sentiments from WMS Say It Loud.

Taking my swirly Kitty to the following challenges: Mojo Monday #294Robyn's Fetish #160 "Four Legged Friends"Dream Valley #57 "Animals"Ginger Loft Challenge "Happy Birthday" and Opus Gluei #157 "Chat Noir"

Christmas Card Club #9: Feature a Creature

My second post today, folks! And this time I bring thee glad tidings! Before that, have you noticed how the temp has plunged... in May? We got away with some ground frost but it's definitely snowing in the mountains! Are we really a month away from summer?

Now on to the glad-tidings bit. Our Christmas Card Club hostess this week is none other that the super talented card-machine - Miss Hazel and she wants us to "Feature a Creature" on our Christmas creation. And that's what I did! My feathered festive familiar, straight out of a much-loved carol, is perched high on a fruit tree. (Hum that tune?) Here is the handsome fellow:

Simple patterned paper from Papermania's Henbury Lane A4 pad.  In this paper collection you will find some luscious and bright Christmas colours; a more youthful vibrant take on your reds and greens.

This is a very simple card. It's all about the image, with no distractions, except for that little gingham bow.

And here's a close up of the handsome partridge in a pear tree, courtesy of  Chocolate Baroque : Christmas Song, stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle. I coloured it with SN and Promarkers. And to give a festive boost, some bling and lashings of Stickles.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Chocolate Baroque's  Warm  Christmas Greetings .

Join me with your creations at these festive play-pens: Christmas Stampin All Year Long #16 "Christmas Carols"My Time To Craft Challenge #222 "Christmas In May"Jingle Belles Rock "Merry & Bright"Christmas Blog Challenge "Oh Christmas Tree"CRAFT Challenge #207 "Christmas" and our hostess' fabby Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra.

Happy Birthday, Little Lady

Hello my friends. It's Friday ... where has the week gone, eh?! Not that I'm complaining, because I'm so glad it's over. It has been a nightmare since Monday... there just aren't enough hours in a day to get things way!

Enough complaining, here's a card I made at the crack of dawn today for our friend's daughter. She's 3 today and we'll be dropping by after work (hopefully before 9pm!) to give her a kiss, a pressie and this simple card. Honestly, at 4 am I didn't have the time nor energy for anything fiddly.

The background paper is by Raspberry Road. In keeping with simple theme, I stamped the greeting straight on to the dp using Memento Tuxedo Black.

Here's a close-up of the image from WMS Half Pint Heroine set. I paper pieced her dress with some red polka-dot dp and  added some colour to her shoes, hair and bunny with SN and Promarkers. To frame the little lady, I used Spellbinders Labels 18,  WMS stamp in Rhubarb Stalk and lightly inked the edges with TH Barn Door.

For the flowers, I used Spellbinders Rose Accents Dies by Donna Salazar.

I decided to add some flowers on the inside too.

Here are some cool challenges you might want to join too: Tuesday Morning Sketches #198 - sketch with twist "Flowers" The Play Date Cafe #182 - colours: "Maroon, Poppy, Soft Jade"4 Crafty Chicks "Birthday Birthday Birthday"Charisma Cardz #19 "No Digis Allowed"Sister Act Card Challenge#7Bastel Traum "Birthday"Sandy's Crafty Creations "Anything Goes with a twist: 3 or more flowers"Bearly Mine Challenge #86 "Lucky Dip - Ribbon, Flowers, Pearls" and Southern  Girls Challenge "Going Spotty Dot".

Thanks Sew Much

It's Wednesday...and no, I haven't forgotten my MojoMonday. I'm just a little late posting my card. Sunday was the one-month anniversary of my little Snoop-dog's passing. How fast time flies! I still find her bits and bobs around the house. Sometimes I smile and sometimes I cry....more of the latter on Monday which is why I'm posting this card today. I made it for a friend who has been and still is a great help to me in dealing with my loss. Her hand-embroidery skills are beyond compare and a sewing theme seemed appropriate.

The papers are from Papermania's 6x6 pad called "Rose Garden". I used pale green CS for the card. A nod to spring.

For embellies: washi tape, green ribbon, pink button and some twine.

The stamps came free with a magazine. It's been knocking about for awhile, unused...until now.  A touch here and there with SN markers for the sewing machine. For cutting and layering: Spellbinders Oval and Scalloped Oval dies. I also added some pearls.

Loads of space inside for a message to a dear friend.

As expected, the sketch is from MojoMonday #293 and for inspiration: The Shabby Tea Room #166 "Sweet Springtime";  Whoopsidaisy Challenge "Pretty In Pink"Fashionista Challenge #15 "Vintage or Shabby"Crafting For All Seasons #52 "Think Pink"Word Art Wednesday #80 "Anything Goes - Uplifting Sentiment" and Perfect Sentiments Challenge #79 "Spring Thank You".

Photo Inspiration

That's my Mojo card for this week. Thanks for stopping by. I hope the weather is nicer where you are. It does't feel like spring  ... the temp is dropping so don't put away your winter woolies just yet!
