B'day Cake

Fabby Friday, my Crafty Cronies! In a few hours I'll be sipping my weekend aperitif at a friend's birthday celebration. Of course, its actually a birthday party, but she's calling it a celebration ... so yeah, let's celebrate! I'll cut out the waffle and dive straight into the card. Need to pick my kitty from the vet before heading back home. So here goes: the sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches #41 and the colour combo is from ColourQ #143. It's a simple uncluttered card... probably as close to a CAS card as I'll ever get!

The papers from "Togetherness" 6x6 by Cosmo Cricket.
The sentiment is from the "Asian Gardens Additions" by WMS. I added some red polka dot ribbon.
The cake stamp is from my stash of orphan stamps. If you recognise it please leave your positive ID in the comments below. I stamped it on grey CS, heat embossed it in white and cut it out with Spellbinders Lacy Ovals die. (At the flames of the candle I sprinkled some clear EP for a subtle shine... but it looks like I made a mess!) Then I layered the grey die cut onto a piece of white CS which I cut with Spellbinders Labels 16 and did some stencilling with TH's Wild Honey... soft glow from the candles, maybe?
And I elevated the the lot with lashings of foam tape.
For the inside I stamped a sentiment from WMS's "Say It Loud" set.
There you have it! A celebration card.  I'm also linking this to Carisma Cardz Challenge #25 "Anything Goes". I'm off to the vet now. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend, y'all!

Soft & Sweet Baby

Hello again my crafty cronies.... I like the sound of that. Crafty cronies. Now that the naming ceremony is out of the way, let's get down to the card. Yes, I know I'm late. I promised a card on Tuesday and ... nada! My bad. It was such a hectic day seeing to my my ageing (and ailing) kitty's veterinary needs that I ran out of time. But here I am with a card for Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #103. Not an easy sketch for me. I had no idea what I was doing, made it up as I went along and ended up with a baby girl card. For the colours, I ventured, with great trepidation, into The Shabby Tea Room for some Soft & Sweet colours. The Tea Room is chock full of gorgeous cards and projects... so yeah, quite a scary place for the likes of me!

Here's my card:
The papers from "Me To You" 6x6 pack. I used the largest die in Spellbinders Labels 18 to cut out the window and did some stitching with pale green embroidery floss.
I adhered some pale peach hearts trim and a couple of pink gingham  bows ... very girly.
The sentiment is from WMS Compact Sentiments, stamped on some textured CS.  I added 3 pearls and a yellow rose ... trying my best to stick to the colours in the photos inspiration. Wasn't sure at first  but I think it works.
Look closely now... can you see the pale green pearls I randomly  adhered on the hearts?
For the inside I used the labels in 2 sizes and stuck them on paper with teeny tiny pink dots, from the same pack. On the corners of the labels I adhered  pale green pearls. And, continuing my rekindled affair with twine, I went ahead and tied a bow.
So that's my card for today. The baby's not born yet but she should be arriving in a couple of days. Thanks for swinging by and I hope to see you soon with another little something. (Note, I did not say "tomorrow")  ;-)

Happy Birthday, Mr R

Good day, fellow crafters. 'Tis the last week before we kiss June adeus! Summer is here... sort of, school's out, people are off on vacation which means no more sitting in traffic... oh yes, life is good! Today I made a card for Mr R, our bank manager. What? Why? And no, I'm not trying to butter him up for banking favours (not yet, anyway!)  Truth be told, he's a great guy and a dear dear friend who just happens to be in a privileged position! Mr R and my Conan go waaay back to the Palaeolithic days when both had long hair, carried clubs and slept under the stars... mostly because they were too hammered to find their way home! Enough gossip... here's my card. I used the square sketch from Mojo Monday #247 and the colours are from PDCC Color Splash.

The papers are from Papermania's Capsule Collection Liquorice & Sherbert.
This is a simple card and I did not overdress it ... the way I usually do! Eyelets and brads are the only hardware .. and I played with some blue and white twine. Not that simple after all!  I never learn...
For the die cuts I used Spellbinders Eyelet Circle and Eyelet Square. The sentiment stamp is by Paula Pascual and the  letter R is from Papermania's Alpa stamps. I heat embossed it using Stampendous Fine White EP. The colour combo is perfect - it just so happens to be the colours of  Mr R's fave football/soccer club.
Here's the inside - same colours and more twine.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back tomorrow with another b'day card... 2 more to make and mail by Friday. In the meantime, hop on over to MIM #95 and take a peek at some crafty creations. See you soon!

J'adore Grand-mère!

Hellooo here, fellow bloggers. Yes I'm back with a card...what else, eh? I was in labour with this card, like forevah , and when it finally emerged, I was stunned, nay I was mortified! I delivered my grandma's purse! Take one look and tell me it doesn't look like Nana's reticule. And to think I intended to make a birthday card for a 30-something friend. J'adore? Well, I do love the girl, so I guess the sentiment works but... a fru-fru clutch bag for a wind-surfing sky-diving dare devil? Oh well, back to the drawing board. But before I leave you cackling at my cringeworthy creation, here's some advice: don't stuff your gob with left over brownies because they most definitely mess up your creative mojo and worse, make your gluteus maximus sag. There you have it!

The sketch is from WaltzingMouse Challenge #102 and the colours are from Color Throwdown #197. My sincerest apologies to both.

The papers are from Basic Grey's "Indian Summer" 6x6 pack.
The for the die cut piece I used Spellbinder's Labels 20. The flower and sentiment are happily hoisted on some pop dots.
The sentiment is from WMS Compact Sentiments set. I used Memento Pear Tart,  some clear EP  and heat set the lot. The flowers are white felt. I inked the larger  with Memento Pear Tart and the smaller with Memento Tangelo. The closest  match in my stash. Then I dabbed some Crystal Stickles on the flowers - oh grammy would be so proud of me!
And here's the inside. Who can I send this to now?!
Since I have a die cut (at least part of it!) on my card, I'm linking up with Divas by Design #40 "To Die For".

Thus ends my adventure for today. Summer is here and hopefully the sun will stop being so bashful. What's up with the weather these days? I'm going to drop a little something in my lemonade and stare at the sky for awhile. Thanks for stopping by and have a sweet day! Ta-ta!

p.s. I'm linking up with MIM #95. Swing by, if you can, and gawk at some awesome creations.

Just for You

Monday again, my friends! It's been a great start to a brand new week. Weather is good and all is peaceful at home. We had a busy weekend: the European H.O.G. Rally 2012 came to town and it was a blast! 3 days of fun fun fun. I've included a link if you're interested in knowing more about HOG events (something porcine? LOL). I don't usually enjoy riding around with a bunch of other bikers and do it only as a show of support for what I consider to be another of Conan's caveman recreational pursuits. And since this year the Rally is practically in our back yard, we took Snoopy with us, and she had on her pink helmet! Too cute! I hesitate to admit it, but I did enjoy my myself this year. Harley's are loud, very loud. Add to that chaos 3 nights of loud concerts by several tribute bands - ABBA, Elvis, Led Zeppelin etc ... oh my wars are still ringing!  Time to wind down and make a card! Here's my take on this week's MojoMonday #246 sketch. For inspiration I turned to the photo below from the June WaltzingMouse Blog Party.
WMS June Blog Part Photo Inspiration

The papers are from Papermania's Capsule Collection by Tina Higgins. By my standards this is clean and simple card. (Yes, you're right in thinking that I have no idea what CAS is all about!)
For my pop of colour, I chose orange buttons topped with turquoise coloured crystal flowers and adhered them on to the smallest of the Spellbinders Labels 16 die cut.
The sentiment is from WMS Compact Sentiments, Versamarked, heat embossed on to a larger Labels 16 die cut.  A sheer bow puts an end to my incessant fiddling!
On the inside added a length of orange ribbon for some oomph.

Thanks for dropping by. I'm going to sit back and relax...maybe (read: definitely) grab another brownie. Hope to see you soon!

L'il Space Cadet

Hello dear friends. I'm back with another masculine card. This one's for a l'il fella who'll be turning 10 this weekend. He's into Star Trek (a fellow Trekkie .. yay!) and all things space-y. Last week, while we were deep in discussion about the hazards of travelling at warp speed and the decorations for his up-coming birthday party, he calmly requested that I leave out his age on the birthday card. Apparently at the ripe old age of 10 (and beyond) one must stop counting one's years! Seriously?! One has to stop counting? Well I've got news for you, buddy. It's my birthday next week and baking myself a cake big enough to accommodate all the candles. One for each year and yes, I am counting. I need to know I can still count! ;-)  Here's my ageless card for my youthful pal. The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches #39 (my first!) and for the colours I turned to ColourQ # 141. I'm also taking this card to Charisma Cardz #23 and DYSU # 76 for their masculine party.

The papers are from Bo Bunny's "Blast Off" 6x6 pack. The green is bright and limey but in the photo it looks more like overcooked asparagus ...blech! At all corners of the card I attached white eyelets, which look kinda pale grey in the photo. I really need to sort out my lighting.
The spaceship is from WMS "Half Pint Heroes" stamp set. I coloured it in with Promarkers. For the die cut I used Spellbinders Labels 16. Of course I used pop dots to lift my spaceship.
The sentiment is alos from the sme WMS stamp set.
On the inside I attached another spaceship, stamped a greeting from the "Half Pint Heroes" set and tied a little bow with some twine.
Thanks for dropping in today. It's Friday tomorrow and I am curiously exhilarated. Wonder why...

My Sunshine

Wonderful Wednesday! We're off wrk today...yes, its another holiday. This time it's thanks to St. Anthony, Patron saint of Lisbon. Street parties, parades, dancing, singing, grilled sardines and gallons of sangria.... probably not how the saint would choose to spend his day! The weather has been glorious - plenty of sun and just enough wind to keep things nice and cool. As an added bonus, Euro 2012 is underway and right now Portugal is playing Denmark. While my Conan and his cronies are whooping it up in front of the telly, I escaped to my little sanctuary and made this bright and summery card. The sketch is from RetroSketches #15 and the summer inspiration came from Always Crafting Creative Mondays #9, Paper Pretties Wednesday Challenge #210 and Fashionista Challenge #3. I'm also linking this up to Papertake Weekly's 1-2-3 challenge.

The papers are from Pink Paislee "Spring Jubilee" 6x6 pack. Here's my list of 1-2-3:
1 stamped sentiment, 2 patterned papers and 3 pearls.
The sentiment is from WMS "Half Pint Heroes" set. For the die cut, I used Spellbinders Labels 18, embossed it with Cuttlebug's D'Vine Swirls folder and inked the edges with TH's Vintage Photo.
I exercised extreme restraint with embellishments - 3 pearls and some sheer ribbon. That's  practically nothing by my usual standards!
On the inside and I did some tearing, inking and stitching.
Easy peasy card! Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you back soon. Have a pleasant evening, y'all!

P.S. Final whistle and the score is Portugal 3-Denmark 2. Plenty of hi-decible roaring and squawking...I'm afraid to leave my sanctuary!
