Well, helloo there! It's the last Monday in May (already?!) and here we are again for another Mojo card. This card started off in my head as a wedding card, half way through production it looked like it would better serve me as a Silver Anniversary card and then, as if by magic, it became a thank you card. The mysterious machinations of my brain... it has a brain of its own, if that makes any sense. It must be the heat, it has to be. While I seek confort in in the arms of Messrs Ben and Jerry please feel free to explore the rest of my post. You'll recognise the sketch from MojoMomday #243 and the colours from CR8FN #55.

I went for the square option. The papers are form WRMK's "Travel Light" pack. I also added some bling to the corners simply because I've been ignoring them shiny bits lately.

This really is a no-fuss card. The background is grey CS embossed with Cuttlebug's "D'Vine Swirls. The sheer ribbon is from a spool my sister gave me and it ties like a dream!

I mixed and matched several dies: Spellbinders Eyelet Circle and Eyelet Square. The flower is from Nellie Snellen's  Hexagon Dots set. The sentiment is from Personal Impressions Circle Tags set. I applied lashing of Stickles on the flower and pinned it down with a brad. Then I went to town with Liquid Pearls on the tag.

I did some stamping on the inside. The sentiment is from Personal Impression's Double Sayings set.

Thank you for meandering through my creative mayhem. I'll be back with another little something soon. In the meantime, why not swing by Make It Monday #91 to see what real artists get up to!

Just for you

Just Add Ink #119
Hurrah, fellow bloggers! The weekend is finally here! According to the weather man its going to be glorious one - sunny, warm (21ºC / 72ºF), cool breeze and free-flowing sangria. Ok, the sangria is wishful thinking on my part, but hey, who's to say it won't come true. In the meantime, I'm having a mugful of rich hot chocolate (let's ignore the calories for now, plenty of time to kick myself tomorrow!), listening to a couple of Aussie boys belt out some great tunes and rambling on when I should be introducing my latest creation. Enough of this nocturnal prattle, let me show you the card I made for my friend Lisa. The sketch is from Just Add Ink #119 and the colours are from Cute Card Thursday #218 "Pink & Green", which just happens to be Lisa's favourite. The doily inspiration came from CropStop #73.

The papers are from Basic Grey "Sweet Threads" 6x6 pack.
I cut the doily with a die from Spellbinders Floral Doily Accents set.
The stamp is from  WMS Compact Sentiments set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I cut it out with Spellbinders Classic Circle die and inked the edges with TH's Spun Sugar Distress Ink. I attached 4 pink pearls on the doily and  adhered it down with foam tape.
3 green card candis topped with green bling sit in a row on the top right corner . I did some cross stitching along the pink panel and added some sheer ribbon in two shades of green,
Followed through with the pink and green theme on the inside.  I used X-Cut's Flower Doily Decorative Border Punch for the pink trim.

That's my card, pretty basic. I'm off to bed in a bit. We're planning to go for an early walk tomorrow, hopefully head out before sunrise. 6am on a Saturday sounds insane, I know but the beach is a pleasant 10 minutes away on foot and I need to do something about this hot chocolate before it settles somewhere I don't want it to. Thanks for visiting and I'll you again soon, leaner and fitter .... more wishful thinking!

My Hero!

Oh happy Thursday, dear friends. Gorgeous day here: blue sky, warm sun, cool breeze.... I want to bottle this day and stick it on my mantel, a little something for those long winter days. In the meantime, I went for another bottle - Martini Rosso - oh so yummy yum yum and perfect for a day like today. I'm in the garden, on the swing, got my drink, got my music ...err, why am I here? Oh yes, to show you my card. It's time for the May Blog Party at Waltzing Mouse and the theme is "Felt / Cozy Fabric".  I used my felt to make something manly for my husband. Why? Because he finally agreed to help me organise / sort out / tidy up the conservatory where the cat and I do our crafting. I've been talking about it with him for weeks now, and finally (and suddenly) he enthusiastically exclaimed "I'll get it done for you!" Perhaps the prime rib roast dinner which I nonchalantly mentioned may have stimulated his enthusiasm.... who knows?! You can tell that ours is a healthy marriage of covert negotiations! With or without the rib roast, he is still my hero.

The sketch is form Skipping Stones design #129 and the colours are from The Play Date Café #133.

The patterned papers are from Wild Rose Studio's "For Men" 6x6 pack.
I'm going for a nautical-ish theme since my husband loves going out to sea. I cut a strip of light blue felt with Spellbinder's Edgeabilities Classic Bracket Border and its held down by a couple of silver eyelets. I cut out a circle and used some kitchen twine to make a reef knot.
I used my current fave stamp set:  Half Pint Heroes. Heat embossed it on blue CS, cut with Spellbinders Labels 19 die.
Then I got carried away with my Crop-a-Dile and added more eyelets .... somebody stop me!!!
On the inside, I followed through with the same colours and through in an extra felt bit.  Totally justified because it is a felt party.
That's my contribution for this month. Martini and I, we're going to party on... Thanks for dropping in and I'll see y'all soon! Ta-ta!

Thanks a bunch!

Hello, dear friends. Can you believe it's Wednesday already?! In a couple of days the week will be over. Not that I'm complaining at the prospect of having to struggle through another relaxing weekend end, but really, aren't things moving a tad too fast? The past few days have been pretty intense: funeral, football and a birth. I'm hoping for a humdinger of a weekend since my SIL has flown in for a short break, and that usually means unbridled gluttony. Things aren't looking so good for my MIL who is already in a terrible fluster planning what sounds like a state banquet.  I'm going to lie low, and hide under my craft table until the coast is clear or until I'm exposed! In the meantime, I made this dinky little card for... well, I don't know who yet, but there's always someone I need to thank... my MIL being the most likely candidate ;-)  The sketch is from Retro Sketches #12 and for the colours I turned to ColorQ #138.

My card base is 4.5" square. The papers are from Papermania's Capsule Collection "Sunshine" & "Aqua" by Tina Higgins.

I bought those paper roses quite a while back by mistake. White roses with a pale brownish centre - what was I thinking? But hey, they seem perfect for the ColorQ challenge. Did I say brown centre? I mean crumb cake, of course.

The sentiment is from WMS Compact Sentiments set, stamp directly onto the patterned paper with Memento Tuxedo Black.

I embossed the red  panel with Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots folder, added  a couple of eyelets and crumb cake-y satin bow.  And for reasons unbeknownst to me, I sprinkled some blue glittery stuff over the flowers. The mystery of me...

My inside....
I'm also linking this card over at Paper Pretties #207 where they are playing with all things Bright and Bold. Thanks for dropping by and spending some time with me. I'm going to crawl out of hiding and call my MIL. She might need some help with that state banquet!

Welcome Baby Boy!

Hello there! It's Monday...yay! Super Monday, the start of a wonderful week... hurrah!  Why so enthusiastic, you wonder? Well, I'm trying to convince myself that I actually look forward to Mondays, brand new week, full of promise and all kinds of possibilities. It beats moping about, feeling all down depressed just because its Monday. Monday morning blues? Naa... don't know what that means! And I could hardly hold back my mirth when I received news that a dear friend has delivered a gorgeous baby boy. Wonderful news because they've been trying for 13 years and finally the little fella arrived in the wee hours of this morning,  kicking and screaming. "A grand entrance!" beamed the proud parents. I made them a card based on this week's MojoMonday #242 sketch.

The papers are from Me To You 6x6 pack.
My sister bought me couple of reels of the most delicate sheerest ribbon, I had to use some on this card.
The sentiment is from WMS Compact Sentiments set, stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black. The ribbon is so sheer you can see right through it!
I've attached a small sheer bow with a blue button. I popped up the Tatty Teddy die-cut on some foam tape.
On the inside I followed through with the same colour scheme.
I'm linking this card over at Chocolate, Coffee & Cards #13 "For the Boys" and as luck would have it Nettie G's Digital Gem Challenge #7 is about announcing the birth of a baby boy.

That's from me today. Thanks for dropping by, I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, I wish you a super-charged Monday. Ta ta for now!

In Sympathy...

Happy Friday, my friends, Happy Friday! I've got a packed day today, plenty to get done by the end of the day. So this will be a quickie, partly because I really am rushed off my feet and partly because I had to make a card that I never wish to make - a sympathy card. I'm a coward that way! My friend's mother passed away a yesterday. At 93, she was a reasonably healthy and active lady, helpful and oh so full of stories of the good ol' days. Always cheerful, I have never heard her complain about anything, not even the weather! Next to her, I'm nothing more than a cantankerous old hag! She lived a full life, happily married to her soul-mate and they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary last month. No one will miss her more than her husband.

I've chosen the sketch from WMSC #97 and the colours are from The Play Date Cafe #132.

The papers are from Papermania's Capsule Collection "Liquorice Sherbet" .
I matted the layers in black and did some stitching in black too and added some sheer yellow ribbon and tied a bow - my splash of mustard, so to speak!
The sentiment is from WMS Asian Garden Additions set, stamped on black CS with Versamark and heat-embossed with Stampendous Fine White EP. And finally 3 white pearls complete the card.
Plain and simple on the inside.

That's it for now. Thanks for dropping by and I'll see you tomorrow, maybe!  Have a blessed day!

Great songs from 2004

Monday, 14 May 2012

Happy Monday, my friends! I want to show you a card I made for my husband. He is a football / soccer fan freak. He and his amigos are working themselves into a frenzy over a couple of games which will be played this coming weekend. Apparently these matches are so huge, indescribably massive, that only a chosen few can truly appreciate their relevance. Poppycock, I say! Here's the real deal: Next week, a bunch of decent professional men will walk through the front door and and by the time they get to the garden they'll be snorting, grunting neo-cavemen. They'll devour slabs of meat burnt on hot coal, down gallons of beer, sangria and other dubious home-brew. They'll shout at the telly, at each other, hug, laugh, cry and sing songs that are best left unsung before finally passing out. And why do I put up with it? For my silence they are treating me to a fully-loaded weekend at a fancy spa. And I only have 2 conditions: Don't throw up in the koi pond and don't burn down the house!

The sketch is from this week's MojoMonday #241 and the colours are from CR8FN #54.

The papers are from Wild Rose Studio's "For Men" 6x6 pack.
The matted each layer in black and distressed the papers before stitching them down .
I fish-tailed a length of green gingham ribbon and attached them down with white brads.  It's supposed to represent the team scarf which the boys wave above their heads. The sentiment is from WMS Compact Sentiments set, stamped on blue CS with Memento Tuxedo Black. I cut it out with a die from Spellbinders Grommet Tags set and attached it to the card base with a couple of  black eyelets.
On the inside, I continued with the same colours and layers.
I've got 4 more cards to make by the end of the week. I sure hope their team wins or there will be no end to their lamentations. My spa experience cannot be diminished by a something as trivial as football. No way! Thanks for dropping by. Next Monday, I'll post some photos of the event. Until next time, take care!
