Easter Rickey

SSD Sketch #117
A few days ago we treated ourselves to a couple of Raspberry Lime Rickey mocktails. (We're going without alcohol of any kind this far so good!.) As I watched the bartender wield his magic I was completely mesmerised by the vibrant colours that went into this "im-potent" potion. I don't know what possessed me but I actually thought those colours would work on a card. A couple of days later, the card is made but I'm not so sure I like the colours.  I'm posting it anyway for the world to see my good, bad and downright ugly! I'll come back to this card in a few days, hopefully then I'll look at it with kinder eyes.  (PS - My apologies to Skipping Stones Design #117 - the sketch deserves better!

I embossed the bottom half of a square 5" lime CS with Craft Too's "Daisy & Swirl"  embossing folder. The patterned paper on the top panel is from MME's "Pretty Please" pack.

I lightly dabbed some TH's Brushed Corduroy distress ink over the embossed section to bring out the design and attached a piece of sheer brown ribbon in an attempt to tone down the green.

The medallion and flower are die cut from  Spellbinders Floral Doily Accents set. Did some stitching, played with Crystal Stickles and held the whole lot down with a frosted brad by Papermania.

The sentiment is from Paula Pascual's "All Year Round" set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and cut out with Spellbinders Standard Circle die.

That's all from me today. Thanks for stopping my and I'll see you soon with another little something to share.

BRAG UPDATE: When you read my post, you'll know that I had little (if any) hope for this card making a mark in the big scary world. Blessed are the weak...and this little fella was singled out by the kind folks at Skipping Stones Design. Please check out their blog... and you'll be amazed by the talent on display. Thank you, SSD, truly!

Thinking of You Always

Another Monday another Mojo card. This week we are given a choice: round or square. I'm playing safe and going for the square. It's a simple card of purple and blue...very soothing. Here it is:

The papers are from Papermania's Capsule Collection "Aqua".
The sentiment is from WMS "Say It Loud" set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on white CS which I cut with Spellbinders Labels 14 die. I also sponged it with TH's Tumbled Glass distress ink. The label in sitting on foam tape.
tied some sheer purple ribbon around 3 flowers and adhered it to the corner of the label. I cut the purple border with a die from Spellbinders Floral Doily Accent set and adhered some purple bling to it.  Four of the "innies" from the border were put to use on the label!
On the inside I used some of the contrasting paper and the rest of the residue from the border. Nothing wasted on this card!

Thanks for stopping by. See you at my next post! In the meantime, take a peek at some great cards over at Make It Monday #78 and Divas by Design Challenge #23.

Spring Has Sprung

This week's Sketch#254 over at Card Positioning Systems is right up my alley. Layers and upon layers - just my thing. I eagerly started my spring themed card. "We need flowers, plenty of it", I thought to myself and a couple of hours later my card was born! I'm also submitting this card for CropStop's Challenge #58: "Is it Blooming Outside?" Yes ma'am, it most certainly is!

For the background, I embossed a piece of cream CS with the  "Daisies" folder by Crafts Too. The patterned papers are from MME's "Pretty Please" pack.

I stitched all the panels and tied a bow with some soft green satin ribbon.

The image and sentiment are from WMS "Spring Basket" set.  I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Promarkers. To the centre of each flower I added a dot of Gold Liquid Pearl by Ranger.

More flowers on the inside!

So glad you took the time to stop by and I hope to see you again at my next post! Please spare a mo to check out some great cards over at Make It Monday #78.

Sending You Hugs

I made this card with my sister in mind. Been thinking of her a lot lately and I miss her. Besides, she could do with a hug. ;-) For this card, I sought inspiration from 2 challenges: The Play Date Café Colour Challenge #120 and Card Patterns Sketch Challenge #154.

At first glance I thought no way is that that colour combo going to work...but it did and I actually love it. Here's my card:
I've used 2 paper lines here: the background panels are from MME' s "Pretty Please" collection  and the foreground floral panel is from WRMK's "Travel Light" pack. This is such a versatile collection I've used it for every occasion. Love it!
The greeting is from Waltzing Mouse's "Say It Loud" set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black onto a piece of soft blue CS cut with Spellbinder's Grommet Tag die. I inked the CS with TH's Bundled Sage distress ink and attached 2 eyelets from Papermania's Capsule "Sunshine" collection.
The flower is by Prima, with an orange button in the middle and a little flower-shaped bling in the centre.
Some green satin ribbon and plenty of stitching complete this card.
That strip is a die cut using Spellbinder's Classic Petal Edgabilities.

Thanks for dropping in today. I hope you enjoyed your visit and I'll see you again real soon!

It's a Boy!

This is literally a last-minute card. Card Patterns Sketch #153 linky will be closing shortly and just had to squeeze this card in. I made it for a friend who just delivered her 4th perfect baby boy this afternoon and as soon as I got the call I set to work! Why? Well, I plan on taking the card with me for the visit later this evening. Too soon, you think? What can I say - she's insisting she's fine and can't wait to introduce the little man to her world. I'm not going to argue with her... not today! Here's my quick and simple card:

For my background I embossed soft blue CS with the Swiss Dots folder by Cuttlebug. The patterned papers are left-over bits from WRMK's "Travel Light" pack.
The greeting is from Personal Impressions "Double Sayings" set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black. I did some dash lines with a Promarker pen. Of course the satin ribbon had to be blue!
I did some stitching and added a few pastel brads by Woodware to the centre of each square. I punched some white CS with X-Cut Decorative Border Punch Lace Trim and adhered it to the panel.
Simple trim on the inside leaving me plenty of room to scribble!
I'll be off in a tick. Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great week-end!

P.S. With just 36 mins to spare I managed to squeeze in this card over at CES Challenge #73 - Spots & Dots.

Birthday Tag

I have a quickie to share with you: a birthday gift card / tag I made on short notice. Super simple to make and a perfect way to use up your scraps.

The base card is 4"x4" in pale blue CS. The patterned paper is from Basic Grey's "Life of the Party" pack. As usual, plenty of stitching...even on this miniature creation!
I cut some dark red and pale green CS with Spellbinders Eyelet Circles die. I embossed the dark red CS with the Swiss Dots folder by Cuttlebug. Using Versacolor "Cocoa" I stamped the greeting from Paula Pascual's All Year Round set.
A cream satin bow completes the card.

Thanks for visiting. See you real soon!

Mother's Day

Time for another CPS card...already?! Apparently so, and I certainly did not want to be left out. Sketch #253 is an easy one to work with and since I was (and still am!) in a bright and breezy mood I picked some fun papers for this Mother's Day card.

The patterned papers are from Dovecraft's "Sugar & Spice" pack.

I used 3 dies from Spellbinders: Beaded Oval,  Labels 13 and Ribbon Tags.  The blue die cuts  were inked with TH's Faded Jeans and the camel label 13 I inked with TH's Antique Linen. The greeting is from Paula Pascual's All Year Round stamp set, stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa.

Some mulberry paper roses and flat backed pearls make this a truly feminine card.

 Here's the inside.

Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you at my next post! And don't forget to take a peek at some fab cards over Make It Monday #77. Have a blessed day.

New Home

Monday ... again, and time for another Mojo card with sketch #229.  I made this card using left over papers and CS -  no waste and feeling very good about it! It's a card for a friend who just bought her "dream home" - a one-bedroom apartment with a  sea-view. Not a bad start for an ambitious hard-working 27 year old. Well done!

The papers are from Crate Paper's "Toy Box" pack.

I could not help but stitch the panels... getting to be an addiction!

The fantasy house image is by Polkadoodles, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured it in with Promarkers. Some dark brown saddle stitch ribbon completes the picture.

Plenty of room inside for my longwinded message!

Thanks For All You Do

Deanna Misner
Oh no... its the last Makeover Monday Challenge ! This week's inspiration piece is by Deanna Misner and she made this fun baby card. For my card, I wanted to do something bright and cheery. After all it's Carnival on Tuesday and that's excuse enough to get totally gaudy! Here's my "psycho-delic" card:

The patterned papers are from Basic Grey's "Sweet Threads" pack. I used vanilla CS to matt the background paper.
The greeting is from Personal Impressions "Double Sayings" set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black.  I used Spellbinders Labels Twenty to cut out the greeting and inked it with it with TH's Peeled Paint distress ink. Of course, I could not resist some purple bling!
For my card, instead of the horizontal banners I cut CS in various colours using the long die from Spellbinders Grommet Tags set. I attached each tag with eyelets, passed some crochet thread through and tied a bow at opposite ends....not quite sure why I did all that...seemed like a good idea at the time!
I followed the floral theme to the inside of the card.

That's my last MMC card. It's a shame but I can't wait to see what Andrea and gang comes up next. Thanks for dropping by and I'll see you real soon!

BRAG UPDATE: Hellloooo! I did it again over at PCL! Truly over the moon. Click here to see the rest of the wonderful entries. Thank you to all at PCL!

CPS Card 15: Thinking of You

JAN 29 - FEB 18, 2012
CPS Sketch #231

Yay!!! I made it to the finish line...probably the last one crawling in! Day #15 is hosted by Kim Moreno and she has chosen CPS Sketch 231 to close the show. Here's my last card for this Anniversary Challenge: a simple card with a simple message.
The patterned papers are from Papermania's Capsule Collection by Tina Higgins in Red Hot.
The sentiment is by Dovecraft.  I cut a piece of lilac CS using a die from Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio set and adhered the sentiment with pop dots. I also inked the edges with TH's Spun Sugar distress ink.
The focal point is a bouquet of mulberry paper flowers tied with some maroon satin ribbon.  The background is a piece of cream CS cut with Spellbinder's Fleur-de-Lis Square die. I lightly sponged the edges and the centre with TH's Tattered Rose distress ink. I randomly placed some pale green flat-back pearls in between the flowers.
Plenty of room for a heartfelt message.
