It's your big day!

Hello there, blog-buddies. Hope the weekend treated you kindly. We had really good weather and spent as much time as possible outdoors. The furbabies were especially blissed out! Even TJ (Turtle Joe) darted about the garden, stopping occasionally to soak up the sun. A darting turtle?! You know what I mean... Anyhoo, I need to make and mail quite a few cards this week, so I'd better get started. First off the  starting block is this sprightly number inspired by MojoMonday sketch #245. A very dear friend is celebrating a milestone birthday and I decided to make him a youthful card to help him forget his age. Dr N and my Conan are as thick as thieves. They spend hours on the phone talking about ... everything and everyone. (When I do it I'm accused of gossiping - talk about double standards!) They watch football while on the phone, complete with pre and post match commentaries. I once caught Conan on the phone... silent with Dr N on the other end watching National Geographic! Seriously! When his wife finally gets her hand on the phone, she calls me and what do we do? We talk about them of course!

The patterned papers are from Basic Grey's "Life of the Party" 6x6 pack. The background papers is from Wild Rose Studio's "For Men" 6x6 pack.
I got so totally carried away with foam tape. Plenty of dimension on this card!
The image is from WMS "Half Pint Heroes" and the sentiment is  from WMS "Say It Loud".  I coloured in the little car with Promarkers. "40" is from Papermania's Silver Peel Offs and I cut out the background layers with Spellbinders Labels 16. There's also some faux stitching with a white gel pen.
I also added some green twine by Queen & Co. Contrary to what you see on this card, please do not "relax and celebrate" with a "nice pint down the pub" and then drive off in a sporty little red car with just one hand on the wheel.  You might crash into some green twine!
On the inside... there's a story here. I completely forgot that the card is in landscape and prepared the inside as I would a portrait card. The border is ... well, not the right way up! I should add - do not attempt making a card after a "nice pint down the pub!"

I'm also linking this card over at Sweet Stampin' for their "All Stitched Up" challenge. And before you go please stop by MIM #93 where you'll find more racy creations!

That's one card down! 3 more to go. Thanks for dropping in and I'll see you soon with another card.

Beijinhos!

Just for you

Yippy!!! Click here to see the rest.

Hello dear friends. We're off work today - Corpus Christi is a holiday for us. Twas a busy morning but after lunch we just lay about like beached whales. Bipeds and quadrupeds alike. Oh joy! The weather was glorious and we were forced, against our will, into a state of inertia. A little after 6pm I dispatched the hubby to get the coals going for our dinner. And while he was busy playing hunter gatherer I stepped into the sophisticated world of card-making. A grand day all 'round! Here's my quick and easy card based on Retro Sketches #14 and ColorQ #140.

No patterned papers on this card, just CS. I embossed the background using the Swiss Dots EP by Cuttlebug.
The sentiment is from WMS "Compact Sentiments" set.  I heat embossed it in white and cut the red CS with Spellbinders Labels 20 die.
For embellishment - just some red and turquoise twine. I also punched the edge card. There's plenty of  foam tape action!
And here's what it looks like on the inside.
I'm also linking this card over at Creative Belli Challenge #145 "Sentiment Only".

And now I've got to rush back to my gentle Conan. He's out in the garden unsupervised, hopefully making some progress with our dinner. I'm going to toss a salad, grab some bread, taste the wine (somebody's got to do it!) and wait for dinner to be served.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a blessed Thursday and see you real soon!

Beijinhos!

J'adore

Hello my friends. It's Tiring Tuesday today... and what a hectic day it has been. My cat Xiara is having a hard time - her hind legs are swollen - part of the ongoing complications of her cancer. She's on meds for it  and I'm massaging her legs to help with circulation. She's comfortable and seems to be enjoying all the attention. Well deserved. After dinner I set about making this card for the WatzingMouse Sketch Challenge #100; inspired by my loveable aging kitty and the cherry clafoutis I made for dessert. Confusing combination, I know, but it's how I roll!

The papers are from Papermania's Capsule Collection "Red Hot" by Tina Higgins.
Minimal fiddling, by my standards! Double stitched dark chocolate velvet ribbon and some cherry coloured trim  - food inspired embellishments!
The sentiment is from WMS "Compact Sentiments" set, which I heat embossed onto the patterned paper.  I also added the word "forever" from WMS "Say It Loud" set, cut out with the smallest die from Spellbinders Labels 14 set and lightly sponged with TH's Spun Sugar. Finally I added a couple of clusters of pale pink bling.
On the inside, I kept it plain and simple.
That's my card for this challenge. I had fun making it and I thoroughly enjoyed wolfing down more cherry clafoutis to aid the creative process. Thanks for dropping in and I'll see ya soon.

Beijinhos!

P.S. Pop on over to MIM#93 where you'll be served up more sweet thangs!

Sunshine!

Merry Monday, dear friends! I'm here to show you my first Mojo card for the month. What's so special about that, you ask. Well, here's the trick: I'm typing with one hand while the other is earnestly employed in stuffing my gob with pecan chocolate chip cookies. Where there's a will there's a way ... and I'm feeling mighty wilful today! Summer is the theme for my Mojo #244 card. Warm day, blue sky, young figs ... can't help but be sucked into an estival ecstasy.
The papers are from "Summer's End" 6x6 by Fancy Pants.
The flower die is from Nellie Snellen's Hexagon Dots set.  The sentiment is from Personal Impressions "Double Sayings" stamped with VersaColor Black and Scarlet. Did some inking with TH's Tattered Rose and threw in some orange bling.
With some sheer peach ribbon and rose I put an end to my fiddling.
On the inside I did some stitching and used up the rest of the orange patterned paper.
I'm taking this card to 3 more parties: Raise the Bar #106 "Hello Summer", Charisma Cardz #21 "Bling" and Paper Pretties Monday Challenge #42 "Bling"

That's all from me today. Thank you so much for dropping by and I hope your day is as sweet as mine ... minus the calories, of course! Until tomorrow...

Beijinhos.

Cupcakes 4 You!

Hello fellow crafters! It's FRIDAY!!!! We're in June... with summer just around the corner I'm decidedly chipper. This is a very quick post to put up 4 cards I made for the Taylored Expressions Farewell Sketch Challenge. I've been thinking about making a card for this challenge but never got 'round to it. And now it's the last challenge, better late than never I guess! My 4 cards feature cupcakes ... a tribute to Taylor's love for cupcakes .... and mine, and perhaps yours too. How can anyone say no to a baby cake?

For this sketch, I made a girlie card. Soft pink and little flowers. The papers are from Daisy and Dandelion "Candy Floss and Marshmallow" A4 pack. The cupcake and sentiment stamps are by Wild Rose Studio.

My second card is all about summer in a strawberry patch. Warm sun, juicy fruit, picnic and strawberry cupcakes for dessert. Click here for the separate post.

My third card is fun loud one. Nothing girlie here so it can safely be sent to a boy of any age. The papers are from Basic Grey "Life of the Party" 6x6 pack. The sentiment is from WMS Half Pint Heroes" set.

The last card is an oops! card. I have a few of those. The papers are from Dovecraft "Sugar & Spice" 8x8 pack. I used Spellbinders Oval Beaded Circle die as my cake-stand! Click here for the separate post.

That's all from me today. I'm going to enjoy the rest of my drink and dream of a cupcake or two. Thanks for dropping by. See you soon!

And before you go, why not swing by Make It Monday #92 for loads more sweet thangs.

Beijinhos.
