I made a spring-themed square card using a digi from my stash. This one's called Flowers For Mom. The card is simply embellished with some twine tied in a knot. The patterned paper is by Basic Grey.

Tuesday Throwdown #262: For A Child

Good morning, friends! Welcome to another Tuesday Throwdown Challenge. Our theme this week is "For A Child" and we sponsored by Sweet & Sassy Stamps. If you don't have anything by Sweet & Sassy Stamps, you can still play along, as long as you follow our challenge theme.

My project features Sweet & Sassy Stamps' adorable mouse Cocoa. He really is the cutest digital rodent ever! For my DT card I've used Cocoa Loves Soccer. I've kept it simple with scraps of (matching) paper from my stash. And since this card is for a child, I've dispelled with unnecessary embellishments. They put everything into their mouths, don't they!

I coloured Cocoa with Graph'It markers. Cut and matted him with Spellbinders die cuts. I finished the card with a birthday greeting. Super quick, super simple.

One more week and I might have to prematurely harvest them. Ok, enough fruity lamentation for today. :) Thanks for stopping by and have a great Tuesday, friends!

Tuesday Throwdown #256: Sketch

Good morning, friends! Welcome to another Tuesday Throwdown Challenge. Our theme this week is "Sketch" and we sponsored by MyGraphico. That means we get to play with their gorgeous digis. If you don't have anything by My Graphico, you can still play along, as long as you follow our challenge theme. I'm using this super fun and versatile Pretty Mermaid set of digi stamps. It's girl and fun with tons of underwater creatures and various other elements. The design possibilities are endless.

So here's my Pretty Mermaid card. It took a fair bit of thinking on my part to come up with an underwater scene with the sketch ... not easy, which made it that much more fun. I used scraps of paper from and old Basic Grey pad, did some stencilling, dry embossing, colouring, fussy cutting and threw in lots of Liquid Pearls and Stickles. Phew! It took a village to raise this card! :)

Here's a close-up. I used Graph'It alcohol markers to colour the images. The fun part of this card is cutting out the various underwater creatures and laying them down....felt like being in play school. And check out the little mermaid's tail! Oh she's a diva, that one!

Tuesday Throwdown #240: All Clear

Happy Tuesday, friends! Hope you are ready for another week of crafting fun with the Tuesday Throwdown gang. Our challenge theme this week is "All Clear". All you have to do is incorporate some clear material on your project - such as acetate, vellum, anything see-though.   Our sponsor is Stamping Boutique but you can use any stamps from your stash as long as you follow the theme.

For our challenge, I made a shaker card using the Twirling Fairy digi. My clear element is a sheet of acetate used on the window. The paper is form an old My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad and the greeting is from Clearly Besotted's Mini Basic Banners, stamped with VersaFine Majestic Blue. I'm sorry about the angle of the photo. It's not easy getting a decent shot without seeing my ugly mug in the reflection! :)

I coloured the fairy with Graph'It markers and gave her a generous coat of Wink of Stella Clear Clear Brush Tip Glitter marker. Didn't forget the shakes - these are a mix of various sequins form Pretty Pink Posh and Doodlebug.

And speaking of fun... here's a shot of Mr Parker caught smooching the Twirling Fairly! Oh ... to be young and always in love! :)

Rosie is pretty much the same. Her appetite is very poor, which makes meal times especially challenging. She's not complaining... never has, never will. Peanut and Richard are treating Rosie with utmost respect by keeping their boisterous revelry toned down while she rests.

Thank you for all your kind words and thoughts on my last post.

Polka Doodles #11: Birthdays

Here we are... my second post of the day. Can you believe it's time for a brand new show and tell over at Polka Doodles! The theme for the next fortnight is "Birthdays". Everybody needs birthday cards and you can't have too many of them.

I made a birthday card for my 8 year old nephew using the marvellous design sheet from Work & Play 8 - Music. This card had to be child-friendly, i.e. no titbits that can be yanked off by curious little fingers. That means no dimensional embellishments. Problem? Not al all. I just filled the card with bits and pieces form the design sheet to create a fun, bright and LOUD card that will appeal to any young man.

The ticket tags are not from the design sheet but is included in the Work & Play 8 - Music CD. There's a fair bit of fussy cutting involved, but I find it quite therapeutic... if done with a good pair of scissors.

Polka Doodles #10: Ribbons & Lace

Can you believe it's Friday already!!! Where has the week gone? Still, there's comfort in knowing that the weekend starts this evening ... and you still have another week to play along in Polka Doodle's "Ribbon and Lace" challenge. Over at the Polka Doodles Challenge Blog, the design team is putting up quite a show.

My inspiration project this week is this girly girl birthday card made with material from the adorable Pretty Sweet Mini CD collection. Calling it Mini is an understatement! This CD is packed with the prettiest, sweetest, most darling images and papers. I used little Maddie as my focal image and she was a delight to colour. The only extras to this card are the gingham ribbon and cotton lace.

Here's a close-up of little Maddie. I coloured her with Graph'It markers, fussy cut and adhered to the card. Maddie with Present is also available as a single download digistamp.

Tuesday Throwdown #230: Monster Mash

Happy Tuesday, friends! Hope you are ready for another week of crafting fun with the Tuesday Throwdown gang. Our challenge theme this week is Monster Mash. All you have to do is incorporate little monsters on your project.  Our sponsor is My Grafico but you can use any stamps as long as you follow the theme.

I made these fun little notecards for my nephews with images generously provided by our sponsors. The papers were given to my by my blogging buddy - Monika Reeck. She's originally from Indonesia, now living in Germany, and these patterned papers are traditional batik designs. The sentiments are from WMS Half Pint Heroes clear stamp set .

I love the  bold design of these papers and thought they would go well on some fun cards with bright colours. The little monsters seemed to be the perfect match.

I tried to coordinate the little monster with the patterned papers. On this one, I'm inspired by the horns and dots. I carried on the dotty theme with droplets of Liquid Pearl.

Here I'm inspired by the spikes and talons. You can see it on the paper too!

And this wacky dude was just asking for something spotty.

Tuesday Throwdown #228: Embossing

Happy Tuesday, friends! Hope you are ready for another week of crafting fun with the Tuesday Throwdown gang. Our challenge theme this week is Embossing. All you have to do is incorporate embossing - wet or dry - on your project.  Our sponsor is Avery Elle but you can use any stamps as long as you follow the theme.

I made a simple birthday card using the Make A Wish set by Clearly Besotted Stamps. The background is embossed with the X-Cut Stars folder. The greeting is stamped with VersaFine Majestic Blue and popped up on foam tape.

Here's a close-up of the stamped images. I did some inlaid die cutting before embossing the stars in the background and slotting the balloons into the negative spaces. I adhered some thread to the balloons and for fun I cut one loose to fly off the card! In keeping with the starry theme I included a strip of Bo Bunny patterned paper from the Blast Off 6x6 pad (now out of print). To finish, a few blue bling.

Time for another date with Tuesday Throwdown. Now that the summer frenzy is all but over, we're easing into September with a  gentle theme: "Sweet Little One". The pattern paper is from Cosmo Cricket "Togetherness" 6x6 pad. I coloured the
image with Graph'It and Promarkers. For embellies: sheer pink ribbon and bling.

Polka Doodles #21: Things With Wings

Hello friends! I haven't been blogging much this week. It's been very hectic what with Rosie being unwell and all. But here I am with a dinky little make for Polka Doodle's Things With Wings challenge. This is such a fun challenge I could not stay away.

For my project, I'm using this adorable image and elements from the Fairy Flutterby rubber stamps series. There are 6 fairies to collect and you can buy them individually or as Multipack Set and make huge saving.

My step card features Meeshelle and she is a joy to stamp and colour. And she is just perfect for girly projects needing a touch of magic.
The patterned papers are from the Bon Bon Belles CD. Extra embellies:
ribbon and some bling.

I coloured Meeshelle with Graph'It (Hair, Skin, Sandals & Bag)  and
Promarkers (Blouse, Pants, Flower & Necklace). I heat embossed the
butterfly with white EP, added some bling and adhered it behind her
head. Also some die cut grassy bits for texture.

Sentiment also from the Bon Bon Belles CD.

Some challenges for little Meeshelle:

Birthday Card for a Boy

I'm not sure what's wrong with me these days... I keep forgetting birthdays, anniversaries and other important dates. This card was made in a state of panic. I forgot my cousin's anniversary recently and I had every intention of sending her one of my cards... but of course I FORGOT all about it... the date, the card, even the grovelling apologetic phone call the day after.

My nephew is celebrating his 9th birthday next week and this card is hot off the press. I will be standing in line at the post office first thing tomorrow morning. It's not easy explaining my busy life to a little guy without the conversation spiralling down hill into his final judgement of "It's ok. Old people forget things." I'm not old .... just very... tired. Maybe I am old...

This is the card I made for the whipper-snapper:

I'm using Clearly Besotted's Ahoy Matey set. I stamped the ship with
VersaMagic Jumbo Java and coloured the sails with Graph It markers.

The ship is mounted on foam tape, so are the flags along the side.
I also adhered them to the red and white Doodlebug twine.

Here is the inside. I plan to stamp his name where you see the little flag...
as soon as I remember his name! Hah!

Sailing off to these challenges:

That's all from me today. Must dash.... make dinner ... before I forget that too! Thank you so much for stopping by... and I'll be stopping by your blogs later this evening.

Polka Doodles: Sugar & Spice

Hello again. my friends! Woohoo! It's Friday at last, my friends and we're having a long weekend. Tuesday is Carnival / Mardi Gras / Fat Tuesday / Pancake Tuesday ....  holiday! . Most employers either close on Monday or allow employees to take the day off - affectionately known as "Ponte" - the Bridge because that Monday is the link that gives us a 4-day weekend. Can you not tell from this convoluted and laboured explanation this is a matter very close to my heart?! :-)

Here's another reason to send your heart aflutter - Polka Doodles Challenge. We kicked off a brand new theme last week - Sugar & Spice. These week we're bringing you some more inspiration and another 7 days to play along. Yay!

In keeping with the sweet and girly theme, I made a birthday card. We had Mama Bear's card on Monday, Papa Bear's card on Wednesday and today I bring a card for Baby Bear:

The paper is from Bonbon Belles Double CD. I added some pink liquid pearls
to frame the card.

The image is a rubber stamp called "Gracie" from Polka Doodles Fairy Butterfly
series. I coloured her with Graph It and Promarkers. I heat embossed the butterfly
from this set onto some vellum, fussy cut it, added some liquid pearls and placed
it behind the little girl.

The flower is from Dolly Daydream Girl Talk CD and I added a butterfly that
my nieces sent me a couple of years ago. I never throw away anything! LOL.
The greeting is also from the "Gracie", heat embossed in white.

So I had an extra flower and could not bear to chuck it. Guess where it ended up?!

You'll find this card at these challenges:

Jelly Park Challenges: Things With Wings
Sister Act Cards #46: AG Cards Only
Simon Says Stamp on Wednesday: AG with Pearls - liquid pearls
DL.Art Thankful Thursday #127: Image of a Girl / Lady
Seize The Birthday: AG Birthday

That's my card for this challenge. Now how about you show me yours! You have a week to prepare a "Sugar & Spice" concoction. And make sure you link it up at the Polka Doodles Challenge Blog by Noon GMT on 7 March. As always, there's a risk you might win some fabulous prizes!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to have fun!

Tuesday Throwdown #183: Winged Fairy Tales

Here we are again, my friends. It's time for another Tuesday Throwdown challenge and our theme this week is "Winged Fairy Tales". All kinds of winged fairy-tale and fantasy characters are welcome for this linky party.... there's no need to limit yourself to just fairies.

Our generous sponsor this week is MelJen's Designs Digital Studio and the DT received a few darling images to play with this week. Pop by their on-line store and you'll soon find yourself squealing at the cuteness on display.  I'm using this lovely Swan Princess for my winged fairy tale offering:

I'm using up my scraps here with  an assortment of bits and pieces for a
patchwork blanket look... the kind you'll find in a child's crib. I'm keeping this
card sweet and simple with just some sheer ribbon for embellishment.

Very very light strokes with my Promarkers for a touch of colour on the
Swan PrincessI also added little dots of baby blue Liquid Pearls for a magical
fairy tale look. Did it work? Are you convinced? I hope the 18month old
recipient is pleased with my effort.  :-)

On the inside, I stamped little hearts and flowers in Pink and Blue VersaMagic
chalk ink.

This elegant Swan Princess is joining these chalsenges:
