Hello again, friends! It's time for my monthly ART JOURNAL collaboration with a very dear and special blog friend - VICKI PARSON of Stamp Smiles. We are both passionate about art journalling and we have a monthly show and tell.
I have a summer inspired page featuring Chocolate Baroque stamps: Chequered Flowers Single A6 stamp and Texture Fragments A4 stamp sheet. I added the leaves in the background using the Useful Leaves Mask / Stencil.
So, the colours… I've gone with a bold colour palette: intense shades of red and gold, and to add contrast I chose deep blue. As always, I started by priming the page with Dina Wakley Media White Gesso. The acrylic colours are by Folk Art, applied with baby wipes.
Reds: 414 Cardinal Red, 932 Calico Red, 436 Engine Red.
Yellows / Orange: 951 Apple Spice, 225 Pumpkin, 627 Tangerine, 736 School Bus.
The glittery swirling leaves are texture paste coloured with Folk Art Metallic 660 Pure Gold acrylic paint, spread over the Useful Leaves Mask / Stencil and sprinkled with fine gold glitter dust. I also used the same paint to splatter the background. To add depth to the stencilled leaves I added shading with the Wink of Stella Gold glitter pen.
In order to tone down the flaming reds and gold, I chose deep vibrant blues for the border: 443 Night Sky, 482 Brilliant Ultramarine, 719 Blue Ribbon, 520 Dark Hydrangea.
The main attraction is the Chequered Flowers Single A6 stamp. I kept it very simple by heat embossing it in white with WOW White EP … and left it at that.
For the sentiment, I cut out the letters in black cardstock using X-Cut Serif Alpha dies, doused them in Black Stickles and added white highlights with a Sharpie.
