MHKD August Release: Pet Puns

Hello, friends! Welcome to Day 4 of MHKDesigns' August Release Party. Head on over to the MHK Designs ETSY Store for lots of lovely vintage designs that suit all crafting styles.

This month, MHKDesigns is releasing FIVE new digital stamp sets. These are available for purchase NOW at the MHK Designs ETSY Store.

As a special treat to celebrate the August 2017 Release, Mynn is giving away sets from this release. More on how to win at the end of this post.

Today we have this fun set called Pet Puns.

I made a masculine card, a challenge for me. No patterned papers. Instead, I created a background for the cute little doggie by weaving strips of brown and cream cardstock. It was tedious but strangely therapeutic!

GIVEAWAY!

In order to get this new set OR the entire release for FREE, here's what you'll need to do:

Chocolate Baroque: Glow!

Hello again, friends! It's time for my monthly ART JOURNAL collaboration with a very dear and special blog friend - VICKI PARSON of Stamp Smiles. We are both passionate about art journalling and we have a monthly show and tell.

I have a summer inspired page featuring Chocolate Baroque stamps: Chequered Flowers Single A6 stamp and Texture Fragments A4 stamp sheet. I added the leaves in the background using the  Useful Leaves Mask / Stencil.

So, the colours… I've gone with a bold colour palette: intense shades of red and gold, and to add contrast I chose deep blue. As always, I started by priming the page with Dina Wakley Media White Gesso. The acrylic colours are by Folk Art, applied with baby wipes.
Reds: 414 Cardinal Red, 932 Calico Red, 436 Engine Red.
Yellows / Orange: 951 Apple Spice, 225 Pumpkin, 627 Tangerine, 736 School Bus.

The glittery swirling leaves are texture paste coloured with Folk Art Metallic 660 Pure Gold acrylic paint, spread over the Useful Leaves Mask / Stencil and sprinkled with fine gold glitter dust. I also used the same paint to splatter the background. To add depth to the stencilled leaves I added shading with the Wink of Stella Gold glitter pen.

In order to tone down the flaming reds and gold, I chose deep vibrant blues for the border: 443 Night Sky, 482 Brilliant Ultramarine, 719 Blue Ribbon, 520 Dark Hydrangea.

The main attraction is the Chequered Flowers Single A6 stamp. I kept it very simple by heat embossing it in white with WOW White EP … and left it at that.

For the sentiment, I cut out the letters in black cardstock using X-Cut Serif Alpha dies, doused them in Black Stickles and added white highlights with a Sharpie.

Challenges:
Colour Crazy #33: AG
Emerald City Crafts #2: AG
Word Art Wednesday #296 & #297: AG Inspirational
We Love 2 Create #16: AG Mix Media
Dies R Us #79: AG Using Dies - (X-Cut Serif Alpha dies)

And there you have it - a red hot page inspired by the infernal heatwave we're having now! Please head on over to VICKI PARSON of Stamp Smiles and check out what she has made. Vicki never ceases to amaze me with her creativity.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you manage to stay cool this summer!

ATSM #254: Clean And Simple

Hello again, friends! It's time for another challenge over at Addicted To Stamps and More.  For this challenge, you can create anything you like - card, tag, bookmark etc - as long as it is CAS.
If the concept of CAS eludes you (as it does for me!), here's a checklist to help you:

Here's my CAS creation. It took a while to come up with this design and even greater effort to leave the white space well alone! My card features stamps from MFT Hog Heaven.

I coloured the wee piggy and fence with Faber Castell Polychromos before fussy cutting the little guy and popping him over the fence with some foam tape.

Now it's your turn to link up your project for the Clean & Simple challenge. Thank you so much for stopping by and have an amazing day.

Chocolate Baroque: Beauty Blooms

Good morning, friends! I want to share an Art Journal inspired by a wedding I recently attended. The bride more pale lavender and cream. She carried a bouquet of pale pink roses.  The sparkly bits in her hair caught the light every time she moved.  Very ethereal. And an Art Journal page was born!

The stamps used on this page are Mackintosh Beauty, Mackintosh Windows and Texture Fragments by Chocolate Baroque.

As always, I started by priming the page with Dina Wakley's Media White Gesso. Next came the colours: Folk Art Acrylic Paint in 438 Ballet Pink, 516 Light Lavender, 632 Rose Pink, 708 Dove Grey and 901 Wicker White. These were applied with a baby wipe.

I framed the page with a lace stamp from the Texture Fragments A4 sheet, stamped with Ranger Archival Shadow Grey ink. For the floral arrangements in the corners, I cut up the various images from both Mackintosh Beauty and Mackintosh Windows and adhered them together. Liquid Pearls and Lawn Fawn Orchid twine brought texture and movement to the bouquet.

Here comes the bride all dressed in ... ivory! I coloured her with Copics and adhered her to the page with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

To add interest to the page, I applied Ranger Texture Paste over MFT Snowfall stencil. But first I added a hint of colour to the paste with the tiniest drop of 438 Ballet Pink and Faber-Castell Metallic Icing Gelato. Just enough to knock back the white of the Texture Paste. I also sprinkled some sparkly frosting and threw in a few bling for good measure. Did you seriously think I'd forget my beloved bling?! :)

I stamped the quote using Claire Brenan's Victorian Alphabet and Ranger Archival Plum ink.

Challenges:
Crafty Friends #62: Floral
Creative Artistes #28: Anything Mixed Media Goes
Emerald City #1: AG
Daisy Chain Challenge #10: Floral

And there you have it - a bridal AJ page. I wasn't sure about it in the beginning. But I have to admit, she is growing on me!

Thank you so much for stopping by and have an amazing day!
