Chocolate Baroque April Release - 1

Hello everyone. Have you seen Chocolate Baroque's new April release stamps: Patchwork Landscape, Springtime Edges and Elegant Edges? The images are whimsical, stylish and very versatile. Today, I want to show you 2 cards I made using some of the stamps from this release. You can see the original post on the Chocolate Baroque DT blog. Here, I will give you details of the inks, paints and techniques used to create the cards.

*********

Inspired by the stunning Serengeti sky at sunrise, I'm using a tree from Patchwork Landscape to create the focal image on my first card. The sentiment on the side is from the Loving Sentiments set, stamped with Memento Potters ClayFor an extra special touch, a little bow in sheer peach ribbon.

Here's how I created the image:
First, I did a colour wash on a piece of heavyweight cold-press watercolour paper using  Tim Holtz Distress Inks. For the sky, I blended Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed with a touch of Caran d'Ache Suprasoft White. For the grassy plain I used Peeled Paint, Bundled Sage and Crushed Olive. When completely dry, I stamped the scene using VersaFine Black Onyx and coloured the tree trunk and other bits with some Vintage Photo. To finish, I did some paper piecing with scraps of Basic Grey's Piccadilly and added some bling in the middle of the flowers.

I finished the inside with an image from Patchwork Landscape, stamped with Bundled Sage and "With Love" from  Loving Sentiments, stamped with Memento Potters Clay.

Challenges for this card:
The Paper Players #189: Tic Tac Toe - Paper Piecing, Patterned Paper, Ribbon

*********

My second project  features a quaint little cottage, also from the Patchwork Landscape set. I stamped my own background paper using one of the stamps from this set and VersaColor Turquoise.  The sentiment is from Birthday Words, stamped with VersaFine Majestic Blue.

Unlike my first project, there are no crazy colour combos here. For a soft and breezy feel I'm using a very light hand with Tim Holtz Distress Inks:  Weathered Wood, Stormy Sky and Tumbled Glass for the sky and Scattered Straw, Antique Linen, Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint for the grassy foreground. The cottage and bushes got a touch of Graph It alcohol markers.

I finished the inside with an image from Patchwork Landscape, stamped with VersaColor Turquoise and a greeting from Birthday Words, stamped with VersaFine Majestic Blue.

*********

That's all for my first post for Chocolate Baroque. If you'd like to see more projects featuring these gorgeous stamps, make sure you swing by the Design Team Blog regularly. New and fresh ideas will be posted almost daily and you don't want to miss out.  Thank you for stopping by and I'll see y'all soon. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Christmas Card Club #7: Cute Christmas

Good morning, my crafty friends! I hope y'all had a good night's sleep, albeit an hour short. Yep.... we're on Summer Time as of today. Let's hope the weather actually catches up because it sure doesn't feel or look like summer around here. In fact, it feels like Christmas is just around the corner.... brrr.

This fortnight, the Christmas Card Club girls are creating Cute Christmas cards. Here's my take on that theme.

This square card is all about circles. I'm using up scrap papers by cutting them up in circles
with SB Classic Circles dies. The greeting is from Clearly Besotted's Merry Little Christmas.

This cute little penguin is from Clearly Besotted's Let It Snow set. I stamped him with
VersaFine Black Onyx and for his hat and scarf I used VersaColor Pink. (Oh dear.... I
dressed him in pink. Guess my "he" is actually a "she"!) . I cut all the bits out with

coordinating dies and popped the lot up with foam tape. Then I added some
Stickles Stardust on the pom-poms of her hat.

The sentiment is also from the Merry Little Christmas set. And I added a few snowflakes
from the Let It Snow set, stamped with VersaColor Baby Blue.

Challenges for this card:

Alphabet Challenge: D For Diecuts - circles and penguin
That's all from me today. I really ought to start making some Easter cards.... it's almost time, isn't it?! Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed Sunday.

52 {C}CT March Pick-A-Previous Colour Challenge

It's our final challenge for the month and it also happens to be our fifth week. That means it's time for a Pick-A-Previous theme.

For her final stint as hostess, Patricia wants us to play with a Previous Colour Combo. It can be from this year or from any of our past challenges. Just go through our Color Combos Archive and take your pick.

I went way back in the annals history to September 2012. It seems like a life time ago. I picked this combo for 2 reasons:

1. I couldn't say NO to those yummy gingerbread men; and
2. I won Top Honours for my project with this colour combo.

Back then I never imagined that one day I'd be on the team with these super talented ladies. I remember squealing down the telephone to my husband with the news. He was my BIGGEST fan then ... and still is.

Anyways, enough gushing. Here is my creation for 2014.

I'm using all Waltzing Mouse stamps for this card. The greeting is from
Say It Loud- Winter Holiday. I stamped Christmas with VersaColor Scarlet
and Yummy Wishes with Memento Rich Cocoa.

The basket and gingerbread men are from WMS Bountiful Basket Additions.
I coloured with Graph It markers and tied some red and white twine. There's
also a solitary red bling... can you spot it? For cutting and layering I used
SB Circle and Scalloped Circle dies. I embossed the white circle with the
Swiss Dots folder ans inked the edge with TH Vintage Photo.

I stamped random stars from the A Cottage Christmas set with VersaColor
Cocoa. Christmas isn't complete without stars ... or gingerbread men. I inked
the edges very lightly with TH Barn Door.

The sentiment is also from the A Cottage Christmas set, stamped with
Memento Rich Cocoa.

How about you join me in these challenges too:

Completely Christmas #5: AG Christmas
Crimbo Crackers #61: AG Christmas
Alphabet Challenge: D for Diecuts
Crafty Catz #224: AG
Fab N Funky #209: Christmas
Addicted To Stamps #88: Holiday

Now it's your turn to create a festive card based on this week's challenge: Pick-A-Previous Colour. In order to be considered for Top Honour and Honourable Mentions, your new card must follow the challenge theme and you must link it to the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown Challenge Blog by 6pm GMT / 1pm EST on Friday, 4 April. And here's the most important rule: Have Fun!

Thanks for stopping by today, my friends and enjoy the weekend!

A Floral Birthday Card

Good evening, my crafty cronies.  My last post was on Monday... so I guess it's about time I made a card and broadcasted it. There's a birthday coming up this weekend and I really don't want to miss it. Like I said, it's about time I made a card! My inspiration came from this week's Tuesday Morning Sketches... with plenty of artistic licence.

The background paper is from First Edition Spring Feast.

I mounted the flowers and buttons on foam tape. For cutting and layering the
greeting I used SB Scalloped Squares.

All Clearly Besotted stamps here. The polkadot blooms, individual leaves and
buttons are from Fancy Florals; the leafy spray is from Leafy Accents and the
greeting is from Tag Along.

The sentiment is from It's Your Birthday, stamped with VersaFine Black Onyx.

Some challenges:

Tuesday Morning Sketches #242: Sketch - stretching it a bit :-)
Colour Throwdown #285: Colours
Seize The Birthday: Buttons and Rhinestones
WordArt Wednesday #125: AG Uplifting
Simon Says: AG With Buttons - die cut buttons
Paper Crafting Journey: AG

That's all from me this evening. What an exhausting day it has been. I'm so grateful you took the time to stop by this evening, but it's waaay past my bedtime and I'll drop by your place tomorrow. Nitey-nite!

Birthday Card for a Boy

I'm not sure what's wrong with me these days... I keep forgetting birthdays, anniversaries and other important dates. This card was made in a state of panic. I forgot my cousin's anniversary recently and I had every intention of sending her one of my cards... but of course I FORGOT all about it... the date, the card, even the grovelling apologetic phone call the day after.

My nephew is celebrating his 9th birthday next week and this card is hot off the press. I will be standing in line at the post office first thing tomorrow morning. It's not easy explaining my busy life to a little guy without the conversation spiralling down hill into his final judgement of "It's ok. Old people forget things." I'm not old .... just very... tired. Maybe I am old...

This is the card I made for the whipper-snapper:

I'm using Clearly Besotted's Ahoy Matey set. I stamped the ship with
VersaMagic Jumbo Java and coloured the sails with Graph It markers.

The ship is mounted on foam tape, so are the flags along the side.
I also adhered them to the red and white Doodlebug twine.

Here is the inside. I plan to stamp his name where you see the little flag...
as soon as I remember his name! Hah!

Sailing off to these challenges:

That's all from me today. Must dash.... make dinner ... before I forget that too! Thank you so much for stopping by... and I'll be stopping by your blogs later this evening.

52 {C}CT Stash Challenge

It's time to play 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown again, folks! For our third challenge this month, hostess Patricia Hayes wants us to incorporate Paper Flowers in our creation. Floral papers, stamps, digis or ribbons won't cut it. No ma'am! We want to see die-cut blooms, mulberry flowers or rolled roses.  For more ideas , swing by the challenge blog and take a peek at the rest of the DT.

I managed to dig out a couple of flowers I never knew I had and come up with this card.

No patterned paper... again! Instead, I decided to stamp my own background using
the smallest poinsettia stamp from Clearly Besotted's Pretty Poinsettia set and
VersaColor Cardinal. Then I added random dots with Ivy Green Liquid Pearls.

The greeting is from Clearly Besotted's Tag Along set, stamped with Memento
Rhubard Stalk. For embellishments: a couple of paper flowers, some sheer lilac
ribbon and 2 pale green bling
This gorgeous image is from Chocolate Baroque's A Gift of Christmas set,
coloured with Graph It and Promarkers.  I also adhered some bling, a touch

of Stickles, a few drops of Liquid Pearls, distressed the edges and inked with
TH Vintage Photo and Antique Linen for an aged look.

The sentiment is from Chocolate Baroque's Warm Winter Greetings, stamped with
VersaFine Black Onyx.

Just a few challenges:

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long #3: Fave Colour Combo - for Christmas: red, green, gold

Have A HAPPY Day

Hello, my friends! Did you know that today, March 20th, is the International Day of Happiness? According to the UN "the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal". Having good friends in your life is certainly one way to put yourself on the road to happiness.

Today's card is about friendship. Actually, I made it yesterday with one person in mind. WHO?! The clue is in the card! I'll be sending it to her and I hope, when she receives it, she will put it up on her blog and link it to this post. When she's done that, I'll reveal her name and link this post to her blog. And so the circle of friendship is complete. Yes... I am a convoluted person!

Late Edit:
The Circle Of Friendship Card went to my sweet friend:
She is an awesome friend and a super talented crafter. You can see her post here.

Anywho, we'll see how this goes ... and if it works, I'll do one every month! Wouldn't that be fun. Let's get on with the card:

No patterned papers. I simply couldn't find one that I liked.
(I think I may have to BUY some more!)
All images and sentiments are form Clearly Besotted. The leafy
branch and flowers are from Fabulous Fuchsias; VersaMagic
Tea Leaves for vine and Memento Morocco for the flowers.

Here's a close-up. Plenty of foam action for height / depth! (That's just me saying I got
carried away.) The bicycle and details are from Good Times; VersaFineMajestic Blue
for the bicycle, Memento Danube Blue for the basket, Memento Morocco for the butterflies
and Memento London Fog for "smile".

And on the inside, a simple message from Good Times stamped with
VersaMagic Tea Leaves. For the butterflies I used Memento London Fog.

Some challenges:

Tuesday Morning Sketches #241: Sketch
Clearly Besotted Challenge #9: In Flight - tiny butterflies
Colour Q #233: Colours
Butterfly Challenge: Butterfly + Stitching

Sorry, can't linger. Have to rush off ... a gazillion things still left undone. But I am determined to make today a very happy day. I wish all of you sunshine, butterflies and pretty flowers all day long ... nay! Make that all YEAR long. Thanks for stopping by.

Tuesday Throwdown #187: Tic Tac Toe

Helloooo there, my friends! Are you game for another Tuesday Throwdown challenge? You'd better be 'cause we've got a fun little challenge for you this week: TIC-TAC-TOE.

It's the kind of challenges I enjoy: no need to spend hours thinking about what to do, how to do it etc. Just choose a line from the grid and you're on your way!

This week we are sponsored by the good folks over at Sami Stamps and the DT were given a few adorable digis to play with.

I'm still working hard on my CAS style (NOT easy, I tell ya!), so I picked the bottom line:
CAS - Embossing - Ribbon

For my card, I used Sami's Warm Love digi:

Keeping it simple folks! Embossed the background with
Crafts Too's Love Hearts folder, tied some sheer white ribbon
and added one clear bling. Can you spot it?

I coloured the digi with Promarkers with 2 basic colours:
Blue and Red. (See the bling?)

Just a simple message on the inside.

Just a few challenges:

One Stitch At A Time #204: Use A Digi
Digi Galore #15: AG with Digi
Die Cut Diva March: Emboss It - Love Hearts Embossing Folder & Big Shot

Told ya, I'm keeping it simple! Now it's your turn to play along. If you're stuck for ideas (which I seriously doubt), swing by the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge blog and take a peek at the rest of the DT. Make sure you link up your projects here by 3pm PST / 10pm GMT on Monday 24 March and you're in with a chance to win some great prizes.

That's all from me today. Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!

Baby girl on the way!

Settle down, my friends! She's not mine! LOL. I made this card in a hurry because the mother has gone into labour quite unexpectedly. She's 2 weeks early and caught me completely off guard just as I was settling into a fortnight of procrastination.

And speaking of taking it easy, it seems I had forgotten to make a card for the Eclectic Ellapu Challenge. Fortunately, our coven leader Elaine is a kind soul of supreme patience.  The themes for the next 3 weeks are "Wings" if you choose to play Pink or "Flowers & Butterflies" if you choose to play Purple. OR why not play both and double your chance of winning.

Enough waffle, let's get the card up before the baby arrives. Here's my hurried concoction:

The stork and greeting are from Clearly Besotted's Special Delivery set. I cut a scalloped edge
using the Scalloped Edge Die Collection on a piece of dusky pink CS and embossed it with

The Argyle border is from the Background Builder III, stamped with VersaMagic Pixie Dust.
I stamped the greeting with VersaFine Smokey Grey and cut it out with a die from the
Tag Along Die Collection. To finish some pink Doodlebug twine.

I coloured the stork with Promarkers, stamped the bundle with VersaMagic
Pixie Dust and cut it all out with the Special Delivery Die Collection.
To finish: one pink bling.

I'm sticking with the the grey and pink combo... it tones down the
pink, which isn't on my list of fave colours!

Some challenges:

Mojo Monday #337: Sketch
The Shabby Tea Room #210: AG
Clearly Besotted Challenge #9: In Flight
My Besties #14: Congratulations
All Sorts #250: Pretty In Pink
Suzy Bee's Blooming Challenge #20: Emboss It
Creative Corner: A Little Birdie

Now it's your turn to create and link up your labour of love over at the Eclectic Ellapu Challenge Blog. Remember, we have 2 concurrent challenges: "Wings" for the Pink Team and "Flowers & Butterflies" for the Purple Team. This challenge will run for 3 weeks and you have until 11:59pm GMT on April 5.

Thanks for stopping by today and wish you all a fun day of crafting.

Christmas Card Club #6: Let's See Some Wings

Happy Sunday, my friends! Yes, I'm back with another Christmas card, but with a different look. The girlies over at The Christmas Card Club have a brand new theme set by the talented Christine. She sent us this directive "Let's See Some Wings". I decided to make a playful whimsical card and Polka Doodle's Angelberry Christmas Collection ticked all the boxes. Here's my card:

Papers, image and elements on this card  are from the
Angelberry Christmas collection. For cutting an layering
I used SB Oval and Scalloped Oval dies. To finish, some sheer
coffee ribbon.

Here's a close-up of the pre-coloured image from the
Angelberry Christmas. I added lashings of Stardust Stickles
on her wings and little drops of Baby Blue Liquid Pearls
on the scalloped edges.

On the inside is a sentiment also from the
Angelberry Christmas Collection.

Sending this little Angel to these challenges:

52 {C}CT March Theme Challenge

Welcome to another 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown challenge, my friends. It's the third challenge this month and our lovely hostess, Patricia, has a fun Theme challenge for you: Stars. Does it get more Christmassy than that?!

Admittedly, I got a little carried away with all the stars. It is Christmas, after all!

For the background I embossed dark blue CS with the Swiss Dots
folder. And then I went to town with the gold stars. The greeting is
from Chocolate Baroque's Peace On Earth set, stamped with
Memento Paris Dusk on SB's Ribbon Label die cut.

I coloured this image from CB's Peace On Earth set with
Caran d'Ache Prismalo Watercolor Pencils.

On the inside I used another sentiment from the Peace On Earth set.

Sending my little star(s) to these challenges:

CHNC #168: Going Green... a little or a lot - just a little on the leaves
CHNC Extra for March: AG Christmas
Make It Monday #182 FINAL: AG
