Christmas Card Club #16: Trees

Ok folks... time for another Christmas Card Club jam session. This fortnight, we have the lovely Miss Sylvie taking centre stage in a pink feather boa.... Hahah! I bet that caught your attention! Sylvie's theme: Trees

I've had a pretty awful weekend. Jabbed myself in the eye with a tube of toothpaste and ended up at the hospital with a torn cornea and a patch over my left eye. Been off the computer all day yesterday. (Am I ever going to catch up when the universe is conspiring against me?) Tried blaming hubby for my misfortunes but he's having none of it. Why can he not see that had he put the top back on the toothpaste I wouldn't be sitting here in an eye patch? Makes perfect sense to me!

Here's my card featuring these adorable owls from Chocolate Baroque's latest Christmas stamps: Snowy Scenes. Christmas trees, firs, pines would have been the obvious choice for this fortnight's theme but I'm going with a bendy tree and part of a tree trunk. And why not?

Love the blue-brown combo. I've inked the background with TH Faded Jeans
and Tumbled Glass, with a little Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap at the bottom.
The bendy tree is from CB's Fantasy Woodland. The snowflakes and the sentiment
are both from the Snowy Scenes set. To finish: little bling and some ribbon.

I used GI and Promarkers to colour the image:
Owls: GI 01250, 02110, 02120, 02130, 02160, 09102
Tree trunk: GI 03140, 03150, 03160, 03180,
Stockings: GI 05210, 05220, 05250 &
Promarkers Holly, Lush Green, Leaf Green

The sentiment is from CB's Christmas Magic clear stamp set.

These owls are hooting at these challenges:

And here's a list of the rest of the Christmas Card Club girls. They are über talented so be prepared to be blown away!

Sue J ... Zoë ... Christine ... Mary ... Lorraine ... Rita ... Rachel ... Valery ... GranMargaret ... Kate

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Have a wonderful week ahead and remember... a tube of toothpaste is a formidable weapon. Handle with care! This one-eyed bandit is off to invade your blog-space.

Beijinhos.

  8. Oh dear, you are suffering at the moment Asha. If it's not one thing it's another. Hope your eye improves soon. Love the image on your card, but it has got me wondering - what do owls get in their Christmas stockings? Maybe the odd mouse or two to nibble on? Sorry! Hugs Christine xx

The owls are great as they are not the usual Christmas theme but there are wise and seem to be waiting for something in their stockings:) I love the uniqueness of your tree and thinking outside the box-This is a great card. I hope your eye doesn't hurt too much and that you will feel better not only with your eye but Rosie and getting back to people in blog world-In time you will, give yourself some slack:)

  21. Take of yourself, Asha. A torn cornea can be nasty. Rest your eye and keep it covered till they say it is OK. I know it is a drag but better to prevent infection.

Your card is lovely. These owls are sweeties and look great with the bendy tree too. I think they just flew off that one and left it a bit bent from their weight!

    The sentiment is wonderful!

  35. Asha, your owl & trees are adorable. Really liked your interpretation of the tree theme, using those yummy CB stamps. Boo hoo on your eye problem. I can totally understand that it was your hubby's fault! And I can bet it hurt like fire when you got the paste in your eye too. Hope you heal rapidly, and the cornea doesn't hurt too awfully much. Hugs & TFS

  36. Well, if I had any doubt that we were kindred spirits (which I didn't), the toothpaste incident would've cemented it. So much fun to find new ways to injure ourselves using household objects! The good news is that corneal injuries heal quickly (yep, experience) and you'll be back to a two-eyed bandit in no time :) Also, I can clearly see with my two eyes that it's your hubby's fault.
I love this fun & funky Christmas card! The stockings really pop, and those owls - too cute :)
